@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE Let's take a closer look at Facebook Search by Intelligence Recruitment Software, how we can craft a Facebook search from this handy tool. You can use the tool on their website or use the handy Chrome extension. The Facebook Search tool is almost like a Boolean Search or a Boolean Builder. The tool lets you add search terms by selecting AND as well as craft OR searches. They have recently updated the search interface, let's take a look. FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE PEOPLE SEARCH The first option, and the one that I believe we will be using the most, is the “People Search” option.

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE PEOPLE SEARCH

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE PEOPLE SEARCH When we add "company" to our search, the tool auto populates pages on Facebook that match the company we are looking for. For this search, we are looking for "Google“

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE PEOPLE SEARCH Here are the results from the search we put together using the tool.

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE PEOPLE SEARCH If we add “Education,” in this case, we are looking for “Software Engineers” at “Google” in “Seattle, WA” who graduated from “Stanford University”

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE PEOPLE SEARCH These are the results of our search.

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE PEOPLE SEARCH The tool is still great for Diversity recruiting. This example is a search for “Software Engineers” in “Seattle” who are “Female” @CareerArc

#TalkHR

As you can see the results represent our search terms and provide a solid pipeline of “Female”, “Software Engineers” in “Seattle, WA” @CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE CONTINUED You can also craft a search on their web page if you are not able to use the Chrome Extension. At this time the only search that is available is the “People Search” People Search Options Name is

Like Current Job (Employer or Job Title) Past (Employer or Job Title) All jobs (Employer or Job Title) Lives (Currently)

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE CONTINUED Let's expand that search to include a location, we will select the gray box with “AND” in it and in the option we will select “Lives” and add “Seattle” as our location.

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE CONTINUED Here are our search results.

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE CONTINUED Let's build a search where we add “Education” into our search. Let's look for “Software Engineers” who work for “Microsoft”, live in “Seattle, WA” and went to the “University of Washington”

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE CONTINUED Here are our search results.

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE – GROUP SEARCH With the updated Facebook Search tool, under “Group”, you can search for “Open” and “Closed” groups on Facebook.

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE – GROUP SEARCH The only “Group” drawback is that you can only search for people who “Work at” at a certain company. You can’t search by “Title” or “Title” and “Company” but you can take an open or closed “Group” you discover and add it to a “People” search. @CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE – GROUP SEARCH Here is an example of a search for “Closed Groups”

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE – GROUP SEARCH Once you have found the group you were looking for or discovered a new group (Open or Closed), you can navigate back to “People Search” as I mentioned previously and select “Job” and add the job title you want and select “Group Member” but the easiest thing is to, in “People Search”, select “Group Member” and review the selections that come up.

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE – GROUP SEARCH Here is an example of a search for a “Closed Group” that I discovered, “Java/J2EE Consultants”. For my search I used “Group member” and “Job” “Present” and I added “Software Engineer”

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE – GROUP SEARCH Here are the results of our closed group.

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE – GROUP SEARCH *Tip While Facebook Search by Intelligence Recruitment Software's Group Search allows you to select a search topic from the drop down menu, you can still add text and not select a suggested search field.

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE – GROUP SEARCH One of the new features that the updated Facebook Search by Intelligence Recruitment Software Group Search offers is the ability to perform an “OR” search. Let’s take a look at what searches we can do using “OR”

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE – GROUP SEARCH Let's take a look at a “People” search where we are looking for “Software Engineers” OR “Senior Software Engineers” OR “Lead Software Engineers”

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE PEOPLE SEARCH After taking a look at the results we need to refine our search. We are getting search results for all titles and all titles are current titles, but we have some fake profiles and other data we need to clean up. Let's add in an “AND” search field and make that field “Lives” equal to Seattle.

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE - GROUP SEARCH As you can see our search results include all the titles we were searching for “AND” the search results include people in “Seattle”

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE - GROUP SEARCH What if we only wanted to find “Female” “Software Engineers” OR "Senior Software Engineers” OR “Lead Software Engineers” “AND” live in “Seattle, WA”

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE - GROUP SEARCH As you can see our search results only include the titles we were looking for, the search results live in Seattle and all of the search results are female.

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE - GROUP SEARCH What if we create an “OR” search for “Software Engineers” OR “Senior Software Engineers” OR “Lead Software Engineers” “AND” look for those titles at “Google” “AND” “Facebook” “AND” “UBER”

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE - GROUP SEARCH As you can see this is where our search starts to break down. Our search results are not what we are looking for. If we changed the “AND” search to “OR” our search results will be a mess. It will look for any of those search terms from title to company, this is not a quality search.

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE – GROUP SEARCH Another use of the “OR” search is location based. In this example, I’m looking for “Software Engineer(S)” in “Seattle, WA” OR “Bellevue, WA” OR “Redmond, WA”

@CareerArc

#TalkHR

FACEBOOK SEARCH BY INTELLIGENCE RECRUITMENT SOFTWARE – GROUP SEARCH As you can see our search results include “Software Engineers” that live in “Seattle” and “Redmond”
