ABOUT THE CARPENTERS’ COMPANY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM Chartered in 1724, some 180 men and women, all of them prominent architects, building contractors or structural engineers, carry on the nearly 300-year tradition of The Carpenters' Company of the City and County of Philadelphia — giving form to the future. From the 18th-century members who erected Independence Hall, Christ Church and Carpenters' Hall to the members of today, innovation in design and technical achievement have contributed to their pre-eminent reputation. In the year of 2000, The Carpenters’ Company proudly announced the creation of The Carpenters’ Company Scholarship Program. The program has been designed so that student scholars in their third or fourth year in an accredited degree program in architecture, structural engineering, or construction engineering/management, are awarded a scholarship. To date, $165,000 has been awarded to deserving scholars and many graduates have joined our members’ firms.
