THE FOUR WAY TEST THAT ROTARIANS USE IN MAKING ETHICAL DECISIONS: Reeths-Puffer Rockets Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Last Week’s Program

Muskegon Steps Up! By RIM Reporter David Manley HOUSING YOUNG ADULTS EMMPOWERING CHANGE TRANSFORMING LIVES It all started when 12 like-minded individuals saw some needs in the underserved foster care system. They pulled their efforts together on how to make a difference. The result turned into the nonprofit called Step Up. The mission and goal is to DR DICK KAMPS house young adults 18-24 who have come out of the foster care system or other challenging experiences in order to assist in transforming lives and empowering change. Their first venture was to acquire a house to house four young women and assist them into a life of independence. Each home has a house manager and all tenants must help with chores in the house, work or volunteer at least 30 hrs a week and also contribute up to $205 a month to help cover housing expenses. The result since 2016 has been tremendous with the young women who have joined and participated in the listed conditions. Dick and his board of directors meet monthly with the house manager in order to help guide and assist with any current situations that may arise. Step Up has been successful enough to gather support to start another house for young men in our community. The organization just purchased another home and anticipate it being operational before years-end. There is no question that the underserved youth and young adults in our community are in need of the services that the Step Up program is providing, and my hope is that other leaders will assist and support through financial contributions, volunteer >>>
