Are you receiving phone calls, phone messages or text messages from the

Canada Revenue Agency? This may be a SCAM Some information to keep in mind from the CRA Website:

The CRA will : • Never tell you to keep their request or call private; they would encourage you to call your Financial Advisor or Accountant, • Never requests CASH, Credit Card information, prepaid Credit Cards or any other type of manual payment • Never asks for information about your passport, health card, or driver's license; • Never shares your taxpayer information with another person, unless you have requested this and provided the appropriate authorization; and • Never leaves personal information on your answering machine or asks you to leave a message containing your personal information on an answering machine. Never use Caller ID to confirm the identity of the caller because it can be altered When in doubt, ask yourself the following: • Is there a reason that the CRA may be calling? Do I have a tax balance outstanding? • Am I confident I know who is asking for the information? • How did the requester get my email address or telephone number? • Is the requester asking for information the CRA already has on file for me? • Is the requester asking for information I would not include with my tax return?
