Joint United Arab Emirates - IAEA Nuclear Energy Management School 14-25 May 2017, Abu Dhabi, UAE The Joint UAE-IAEA Nuclear Energy Management School is organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in cooperation with the Khalifa University (KU), the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR), Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), the Critical Infrastructure and Coastal Protection Authority (CICPA), and the Nawah Energy Company (NEC). It will take place from 14 to 25 May 2017 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The purpose of the Joint UAE-IAEA Nuclear Energy Management School is to provide a unique international educational experience aimed at building future leadership competencies to manage nuclear energy programmes. It provides a broad understanding of the main issues and challenges associated with peaceful uses of nuclear technology such as safety, security, economics, public acceptance, non-proliferation, and associated risks. Expert lectures will focus on economics of nuclear power, energy policy and energy planning, legal aspects, knowledge management, human resource management, and stakeholder involvement. Participants will learn about the fundamentals of nuclear energy, nuclear technologies, nuclear fuel cycle, nuclear safety, nuclear security, nuclear safeguards and radiation control. Participants will be selected based on an online pre-training course and a test. During the two-week school, they will be exposed to a wide range of different teaching and training activities including lectures, site visits, discussions, group work and presentations. Participants are expected to take an active part in all activities of the School and may have the opportunity to visit nuclear-related facilities within the UAE.
