Automotive Technology Certification Information Pathway to ASE Student Certification:  Testing Agency: ASE Student Certification, http://www.asestudentcertification.com  Testing Cost: $30 fee per student, per academic year, allows the student to take any or all tests in a test series twice each year – once in the Fall and once in the Spring.  Areas Available for Certification: o Suspension and Steering o Automatic Transmission/Transaxle o Brakes o Manual Drive Train and Axles o Electrical/Electronic Systems o Heating and Air Conditioning o Engine Performance o Maintenance and Light Repair o Engine Repair Pathway to ASE Industry Certification:  Testing Agency: Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), https://www.ase.com/Home.aspx  Testing Cost: o Registration Fee: $36 per person for any combination of tests  Registration fee is paid once for each two-month testing window in which the applicant registers for tests o Certification Tests (except L1 and L2): $31 each o Testing Dates, Fees, & Test Times Information  Testing Application Procedure*  *“To become ASE-certified, you must pass an ASE certification test and have relevant hands-on working experience. The amount of work experience required varies by test, and is specified in detail on the work experience reporting form.”  Automobile & Light Truck Certification Tests Certifications can be earned in the following area(s): o A1 – Engine Repair o A6 – Electrical/Electronic Systems o A2 – Automatic Transmission/Transaxle o A7 – Heating & Air Conditioning o A3 – Manual Drive Train & Axles o A8 – Engine Performance o A4 – Suspension & Steering o A9 – Light Vehicle Diesel Engines o A5 – Brakes Pathway to Snap-On Certification:  Testing Agency: Snap-On Certification, http://www1.snapon.com/Education/Certifications  Testing Cost: None for West-MEC Students who complete certification through West-MEC  Testing is offered through West-MEC Central Program.  Certifications can be earned in the following area(s): o Multimeter o Precision Measurement o Diagnostic o Brake Service o Torque o Shopkey o Undercar Pathway to OSHA-10:  Testing Agency: Occupational Safety & Health Administration, https://www.osha.gov/dte/index.html  Testing Cost: None for West-MEC Students who complete certification through West-MEC  Testing is offered through West-MEC Central Program.
