Selection Policy Document Selection of SAFYC Team for Busan, Singapore, Fukuoka 2015 Regatta Issued 13 January 2015 1. General Eligibility 1.1 To be eligible for selection each sailor must; a) Be a member of SAF Yacht Club b) Currently training in either the SAF Yacht Club’s Optimist A2 or Optimist A1 or Optimist HP Squad till at least 1st July 2015 c) Be able to commit to a regular training program (Min of 60% attendance till 1st July 2015). d) Be able to provide homestay for the overseas participants when it is SAF Yacht Club’s turn to host them.
2. Selection 2.1 The selection event will be the DSP-SAFYC Sailing League (1/3) 2015 2.2 The top 8 of Gold Fleet and top 4 of Silver Fleet for the selection event will be selected to represent SAF Yacht Club.
3. Final Selection 3.1 In the event where the selected sailor fails to fulfil the requirements stated in section 1.1 Or because of injury/illness/school commitment is unable to represent SAFYC, the selection panel, at its own discretion, reserves the sole right to do the following: a) Replace the selected sailor with another sailor OR, b) Not nominate a replacement sailor 3.2 SAF Yacht Club reserves the sole right to alter the number of athletes being sent to or cancel the proposed attendance to the identified event. 3.3 SAF Yacht Club reserves the sole right to interpret and amend the Selection Policy Document and address issues that may arise not covered by this policy at its own discretion. 4. Funding 4.1 SAF Yacht Club will provide: a) Support staff such as coach and team manager b) Regatta entry fee c) Boat charter fee d) Accommodation 4.2 The amount that the athlete needs to pay will be made known upon selection confirmation, booking of flights and other charges and must be paid to SAF Yacht Club prior to the departure of the team.
