TINEA CRURIS (JOCK ITCH) • Fungal infection of groin and adjacent skin. • Commonly in adolescent males and young men. • Typically appears as a red rash, burning and itching in the groin area.

FOR BEST RESULTS: 1. A small amount of Canesten Plus should be applied thinly and evenly with gentle rubbing to the affected area(s) twice daily. 2. Use only until inflammation, itching and redness have subsided,and not for more than 7 days (unless advised by a doctor).

TINEA PEDIS (ATHLETE’S FOOT) • Appears as white macerated areas, fissuring, and scaling in the interdigital spaces of the third, fourth and fifth toes. • Patients may describe itching and burning and strong odour.

3. Then use Canesten Clotrimazole Cream for 14 days after symptoms disappear to treat the underlying infection and prevent recurrence.

FUNGAL NAPPY RASH • Appears as red, puffy and tender in the area where they wear their nappy - around the buttocks, thighs and genitals.

TINEA CORPORIS (RINGWORM) • Fungal infection that is present on the non-hairy skin of the face, trunk, arms or legs. • Generally characterised by one or more well- demarcated annular scaly plaques which have a raised red border.

CHECKLIST FOR PATIENTS WITH FUNGAL INFECTIONS: ✓ Practice good hygiene - Maintain hygiene through regular bathing with soap and water. - Pay special attention to drying moist areas. - Use a separate towel to dry an infected body area. ✓ Be aware of cross infection - Avoid sharing towels, linen, headgear, hats, hairbrushes or combs. - Do not allow infected children to have close contact with other children. ✓ Be aware of lifestyle factors - Take extra care with hygiene after gardening or petting animals. - Take extra care if you do manual work, participate in sports, sweat profusely or have an existing skin condition. ✓ Be compliant with treatment - Early termination of treatment or inappropriate treatment can lead to recurrence of infection (relapse).
