TWO ARRESTED FOLLOWING A FATAL COLLISION ELK GROVE, CA – On December 4, 2016, at approximately 5:56 p.m., officers responded to the 9300 block of W. Stockton Blvd. regarding a single vehicle collision. Callers to the dispatch center reported that a vehicle travelling northbound on W. Stockton Blvd. had driven through a chain-link fence and overturned. When officers arrived, they located a dark colored SUV resting against the chain-link fence on the shoulder of Highway 99 (southbound). Officers located an unidentified male, a short distance away from the damaged vehicle, who was deceased and showed obvious signs of trauma. The name of the deceased has not been released and identification will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. Officers also contacted an individual at the scene who indicated that he had been driving the overturned vehicle. Officers determined that the deceased man had been a passenger in the SUV and had been ejected when the SUV overturned as it left the roadway. While officers were conducting their investigation into this collision, they developed information that the initial statement about who had been driving the vehicle was false. Based on these additional facts, officers determined that the driver of the vehicle, and a passenger, had fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. Through investigative efforts, officers were able to identify and locate the driver and passenger who had fled the scene of the fatal collision. The driver, 23-year-old Ernesto Bizran-Guzman, and a passenger, 19-year-old Jose Guzman, were booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail early this morning on charges of Vehicle Code 20001(C). Anyone with additional information regarding this fatal collision is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department’s Traffic Bureau at (916) 478-8148.
