The Community College Consortium for Immigrant Education will be presenting on the Equity and Diversity in Workforce Development track and has organized two great sessions: 1. Community College Partnerships Serving a Diverse Immigrant Workforce (Wed., Oct. 12, 9:45 am – 10:45 am, room Atlanta 3) This panel discussion will feature three comprehensive but very different partnerships:   

CCCIE’s national retail sector collaboration with National Immigration Forum and Miami Dade College, funded by the Walmart Foundation, that is helping employees improve their ESL and customer service skills A community-based initiative led by Neighbors Link and Westchester Community College preparing immigrants to enter a home healthcare ladder A customized ESL training program engaging employers in various industries led by Northern Virginia Community College Join this discussion to learn from their experiences and how to promote successful collaborations in your communities!

2. Helping Immigrants Navigate Career Pathways (Thurs., Oct. 13, 9:45 am – 10:45 am, room Georgia 7 & 8) This hands-on roundtable discussion will focus on how to use WES Global Talent Bridge’s and CCCIE’s latest career guidance tools to help immigrant students better understand how they can translate their foreign education into a viable educational and career pathway. Community college and CBO practitioners who work with immigrants will learn how to advise their clients more effectively. And there’s much more! Don’t miss Alamo Colleges’ I-BEST presentation to learn how braided funding solutions and structured career pathways promote the success of low- skilled adult learners and Migration Policy Institute’s examination of equity levers in WIOA and civil rights law and actions workforce investment boards and programs can take to ensure equitable access for Limited English Proficient, low-educated, and low-income individuals.
