re-imaginedsettings This executive home was built in the early 1990s, and it has been a work in progress ever since. With beautiful spaces, a park-like setting, and creative owners, the home has been expanded and re-imagined in many ways. What you see here is the second full remodel using Showplace cabinetry in multiple rooms. For this effort, the large central island was realigned, turned 90 degrees from its previous placement. Its Casual Vintage Smokey Blue finish includes a unique hand brushing treatment that is very subtle, and offers strong contrast to the clean white paint of the other cabinetry. The kitchen opens to a cozy family room with a large Showplace fireplace surround flanked by bookcase cabinets. The dining room shown lower left is graced by two tall, glassfronted display cabinets that also offer convenient storage for table linens and other necessities. The sunny conservatory seen to the rear is a comfortable haven, all year round.

creative spaces From floor plan to materials to decor, this architect’s home reflects a lot of thought and creativity. Showplace cabinetry’s inherent flexibility was a perfect fit. Almost every room in the home has a Showplace creation in it, from the spacious kitchen to the children’s playroom. The kitchen adjoins a living room, linked by a functional Showplace divider unit. The dining room off the kitchen is home to a lovely custom sideboard, created with Showplace cabinetry. Note how the kitchen pairs maple Harvest and Autumn stains for a lovely two-toned effect. A row of lighted display cabinets tops the kitchen design, leading up to the sleek cove moldings at the ceiling. The master bath at right refrains the midtoned maple Autumn finish.

lakesidemasterpiece Creative architecture, a one-of-a-kind lot with water on three sides, and inventive use of Showplace cabinetry in multiple rooms. It all adds up to a stunning lakeside home unlike any other. Inset door styles and Vintage finishes are the unifying themes throughout the varied and unique settings. The kitchen design flows through a large, open space that adjoins the family room, and also a large deck with a full outdoor kitchen. The Savannah inset style in Vintage Soft Cream lends a nautical flavor, while rustic alder adds a colorful counterpoint. The large free-form island anchors the design, creating storage, prep and serving spaces. The outgoing character of the island’s rustic alder is a great fit for the handcrafted Vintage finish. The proprietary Showplace Vintage finish includes special techniques to create the impression of timeworn aging, evident in the master bath shown at left.

sweet & savory The gracious pairing of maple’s character with the brisk appeal of near-white paint strikes a savory balance in this roomy remodeled kitchen. The inset Chesapeake style establishes a tone of calm dignity, which is reinforced and softened by the distressed Vintage Nutmeg finish. Sweetening this savory warmth is the Vintage Soft Cream island, which uses the flat-paneled Concord Inset door. Note how the cabinetry wraps around and over the doorway into the adjacent laundry room, which is home to more Showplace painted cabinetry. Tasty accents abound, from the carved corbels on the range hood, to the massive turned legs on the island and half-rounds framing selected cabinets. The entire creation is topped with a multi-tiered molding stack, giving a fitting crown to this palatable achievement.

sportsman’s haven This private hunting lodge is a converted and expanded farmhouse in central South Dakota’s legendary pheasant belt. Showplace cabinetry was used to create the handsome kitchen, a laundry/mud room, bathrooms, and even custom bunk beds for visiting grandkids. The large kitchen, loft and family room space was added on to the original farmhouse, and reclaimed wood was used for the floor and the vaulted ceiling. The interior design of the lodge mixes woods, paints, metals, tile, and soapstone tops for a lovely interplay of textures and tones. The understated Pendleton Inset door style was used throughout, in paint grade, red oak, and rustic hickory. The handcrafted Vintage finishes fit right in with the theme of rugged comfort. The Oyster painted finish in the kitchen is a lovely pale gray, reinforcing the impression of natural aging.

distinguished warmth This family home is in a beautiful wooded setting on a winding, secluded street. When it was time to remodel, it was certainly worth doing it right. The homeowners chose Showplace eucalyptus cabinetry in the classic Covington raised-panel door style. The rich Truffle stain was accented with subtle Ebony glazing. The compact painted island uses the graceful Casual Vintage finish in Soft Cream. The kitchen floor plan is a modified galley layout, with the island in the center and a peninsula off one side. An arched opening unites the kitchen with the adjacent living room. Convenience accessories like roll-out trays make this kitchen as functional as it is lovely.

gracefulclassic This large kitchen sets a tone of classic grace with Showplace cabinetry. The elegant Savannah Inset door style in Soft Cream paint is accented with Gothic Mullion glass doors. The Gothic Quad Curved mullion design used here is a distinctive feature of the kitchen, and is one of several in the Showplace offering. This L-shaped kitchen embraces a large island which offers the bold contrast of a distressed Vintage Graphite finish. The darker Graphite paint adds visual balance to the bright setting, while the handcrafted Vintage finish contributes character. The massive turned legs on the corners of the island repeat on the range base. Showplace cabinetry was also used in the mud/laundry room, the living room, and several baths in the home, including the graceful master bath shown at left.

Red Oak SG Horizon • Finish: Coffee • Island: Rustic Alder Driftwood • Project: New construction

unique vision Slab door styles are most often associated with modernist or contemporary settings. But this homeowner had a unique vision for an eclectic theme that combines sleek with comfortable. The historic flavor of the pulls and handles is an example of this “shabby chic” melding of genres, as are the metal stools. Note the unique horizontal grain of the Horizon slab door style, and the smart walk-in pantry cabinet shown below. The island’s Driftwood finish adds a touch of aged character.

spacious & distinctive Showplace inset cabinetry adds dignity and understated elegance to this remodel of a distinctive home. There’s certainly no shortage of space in this inviting kitchen centered on an immense wood-topped island. The raised-panel Chesapeake Inset door style creates a look of substance and balance while the nearwhite Soft Cream paint keeps the setting bright and clean. Adjacent to the kitchen, the family room’s tall wet bar introduces a new set of tones and textures, courtesy of distressed rustic alder in the deep Coffee stain.

rustic recreation The lower level of this striking lake home was transformed into a rec room and home theater with the help of Showplace cabinetry. Rustic hickory fits right in with the woodsy decor of the rest of the home. The classic Pendleton Inset door style creates a comfortable pub feel while the Autumn stain keeps the setting warm. The inviting guest bath (below) features Showplace hickory in a non-inset variant of the Pendleton door style. The brighter Natural finish keeps the windowless bathroom sunny and cheerful.

higher standards In this elegant home, the square footage is abundant and complex, the homeowner’s standards are very high, and Showplace is the cabinetry of choice. As you can see, the designer created the perfect palette of muted tones and textures, anchored by the subtle Showplace Linen painted finish. Careful placement of maple accents balances the visual impression. The maple Autumn island is enhanced with Ebony hand glazing. Painted diagonal spiral-pattern corner posts add a bright touch, and link the end-grain walnut island top to the lovely stone flooring. The unique floor plan wraps around past the island to a recessed nook that holds the ovens, tall pantry cabinets, and a walk-in pantry. Beside these and facing the island is the large refrigerator, integrated into the design with Showplace appliance panels.

comforts of home The retired couple who own this comfortable home on a quiet, leafy street knew it was worthy of an extensive remodel. A wall was removed to open the kitchen into the spacious setting shown here. Traditional comfort was the goal, and Showplace red oak provides it in the handsome Cognac stain. A bright counterpoint is introduced with the painted island. Since one of the homeowners lives life in a wheelchair, easy access was important in this design. Showplace interior accessories give lots of ways to keep lots of things within easy seated reach.

Paint Grade Savannah Inset • Finish: White • Island: Cherry Coffee • Project: Remodeling

timeless grace There are times when everything just works – the setting, design and cabinetry all come together into something that is gracefully upto-date, yet clearly timeless. This is such a home. A complex design with many recesses and depths is rendered in the handsome Savannah Inset door style, and is kept from becoming visually busy by a subtle palette of whites and neutrals. The island contributes a strong contrasting element in cherry Coffee, which harmonizes well with the new hardwood floor. Above the island, the hanging lights bring a bold element of metallic sparkle. This kitchen was part of a comprehensive remodel that nearly doubled the size of a 1930s home, and Showplace cabinetry was used in many rooms on all three floors.

warm welcome Follow the narrow private drive to a hilltop overlooking a river valley rimmed with ancient oaks, and you’ll find this welcoming home. Enter the home and you’ll see Showplace cabinetry in many rooms on both floors. The kitchen sets a tone of warmth and welcome with its rich cherry Pecan finish, complemented with hand-applied Ebony glazing. The dark accents of the glaze bring out the detail of the sleek, geometric Chesapeake door style. The U-shaped kitchen frames an island in the neutral Mid Greige paint. Downstairs, a large entertainment center faces a Showplace wet bar across the large rec room. The master bath, shown at left, repeats the cherry Pecan, but uses the flat-panel Breckenridge door style. A mudroom, laundry room and several baths utilize the Mid Greige theme of the island.

softened strength This unique home has an unmistakably strong aesthetic. Elements like the bold iron range hood, exposed natural stone, rough-cut rafter beams and steel backsplash create a nineteenth-century industrial persona. This distinctive vision is reinforced and softened by the lovely Vintage Sandstone painted finish on red oak. The Pendleton Inset door style is a great choice, offering clean simplicity. The large island, shown below, is in rustic alder Vintage Natural, and topped by an immense soapstone slab. Note the unique design of the base cabinets at near right. Twodrawer cabinets with flush toe kicks bring antique file cabinets to mind.

heirloom inspiration There’s a cold winter day outside the window, but inside the setting is warm and comfortable, thanks in part to Showplace cabinetry in rich quartersawn white oak. The Pendleton Inset door style fits right in with the theme of authentic prairie heritage reflected in this home. An upper row of small glassdoored wall cabinets adds a lot to the visual appeal of the design. Interior lighting and decorative glass make a good home for heirlooms and collectibles. Showplace cabinetry allows the design theme to extend throughout the main level. The living-room creation at left centers on a Showplace fireplace surround. sleek & sunny Great use of space and a sleek modernist aesthetic define this welcoming twin-home kitchen. The clean lines of the Milan door style look great in sunny maple Natural, while a deft palette of cool tones gives perfect complement to the warmth of the hardwood flooring. hub of the home It is often said that the kitchen is the hub of the home. In the case of this modern country home, it’s literally true. The wide-open main floor sweeps around from the entry to the living room, and all the way to the dining room, with a soaring Showplace kitchen as the central hub. A creative layout with a two-level island fits this unique space perfectly. The cherry Arlington door style contributes much to the visual impact of the room. Note its convex frame and beaded edge profile. It’s a great choice for the Ebony glazing used here, which accentuates the door style’s unique features.
