We came in on a whim Saturday night and we're so glad we did. You all are on top of your game! The Clubhouse looks amazing, the wait staff couldn't have been better and our meal in the Wigwam was some of the best soft shell crab we've ever had.

No Meeting

Our waiter in the Wigwam, Raphael, was so attentive and even discussed World Cup soccer with us. Then he walked us out to the hall after dinner. This is the kind of thing that sets our Club apart. I've been a member since 2004 and have never been more proud of my Club than I am today. Thank you.

C O M M U N I C AT I O N S COMMITTEE

NANCY HABLUTZEL Note to the Front Desk, especially Alexis White, after locating lost items! You people always amaze me!! We think the Club is one of the best things that ever happened to us. See you next week, and THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

DAMIAN KREBSBACH I just wanted to pass along a note of gratitude. We are having a retirement ceremony today for our deputy commander, and one of his awards fell out of the carrying case during shipment and arrived completely wrinkled. It would have been unacceptable to display the award in its current condition. I knew I could get some help from the house staff at ULC, so I ran over there this afternoon to seek assistance. Long and short, Jeff Fisher at the Bell Desk connected me with Jackie Shanahan, the Assistant Housekeeping Manager. Jackie took me to see one of the housekeeping staff, Cita Rios who stopped what she was doing to help me out. Though the interaction only took a few minutes, it was an excellent display of support that I've come to know while a member at the Club. We truly have a top notch staff supporting our endeavors, and I wanted to pass along how grateful and proud I am to be associated with them.

RED MARE WINEMAKER DINNER Thursday, August 23 Please join us for a special evening with Jim Striegel, co-owner of Red Mare Wines. Red Mare Wines sources fruit meticulously from very small, well-respected vineyards throughout the Napa Valley, from a cool enclave of the Carneros to a hill top in Coombsville, and northward on the Valley floor in Oakville, Rutherford and St. Helena. The 2011 Chardonnay hails from a choice location in the famed Russian River Valley of Sonoma. They look for vineyards with unique qualities and distinctive character that will come together in the blending process to produce layered and beautifully balanced wines. The evening begins with a 6:00 p.m. reception followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. The price is $125 per person inclusive. Cancellations cannot be accepted after Monday, August 20 at noon.

We will also feature discounted prices on ordering bottles of your own at the event. The evening begins at 6:00 p.m. The price is $35 per person inclusive and the reservation policy is in effect.

When I arrived as Director of the Art Collection in May 2016, a top priority was to create a searchable, online public database whereby the entire world would have digital access to our first-rate art collection. With the stellar support of former IT Assistant Manager Vince DiBeasi, this dream is now a reality! Go to the ULCC website, hover over the "Culture" tab and click the “Art Collection” link. From there you may search by artist's name and title, or simply “Explore the Collection” at random. A good number of collection highlights are featured, and we will be adding to the database continuously, so visit online often. —Sally Metzler
