COACHING & MENTORING SKILLS TRAINING EMCC Accredited Foundation Skills Programme for established or aspiring GP leaders in Essex This initiative is being facilitated by EPIC Workforce Development to support leadership development skills at a time of great change in general practice and wider primary care in Essex. It will comprise four days of workshops spread across two months. You will need to complete 8 hours of coaching practice and a portfolio of learning with a reflection around coaching competencies. This course will give you the opportunity to build on the many skills you already possess and specifically to learn how coaching and mentoring can very usefully assist your work in the health service. This training has been developed to introduce people to a coaching and mentoring approach, with an emphasis on creating an understanding of the core skills and models for coaching and mentoring, and how and when to use coaching and mentoring skills effectively. EMCC = European Mentoring and Coaching Council.

Thurs 16th & Fri 17th March, Tues 25th April & Thurs 18th May 2017 PONTLANDS PARK, GT BADDOW, CHELMSFORD,CM2 8HR Aims of this training: Lunch &  To clarify what coaching and mentoring is Refreshments  To build upon your existing skills to develop coaching and mentoring skills  To provide coaching and mentoring frameworks for use in your work Provided  To create opportunities for practice and application of coaching and mentoring skills During this four day introductory coaching and mentoring workshop we will:  Clearly define a coaching and mentoring approach, exploring its application and how it adds value  Consider the link between coaching and leadership capability  Understand the key skills and frameworks for effective coaching and mentoring conversations  Introduce skills and techniques for raising awareness and increasing responsibility  Practise the application of those skills and frameworks £400.00  Understand how to set effective goals that encourage responsibility  Understanding potential barriers to change (cognitive, emotional, behavioural)  Explore the application of coaching with clinical colleagues  Encourage self-reflection and self-appraisal of coaching capabilities through feedback, to identify key strengths and areas for personal development The programme will include a variety of learning opportunities including understanding coaching and mentoring models, skills development and skills practice. It is structured around a highly participative and experiential learning process, with many opportunities to practice skills, share experience, develop relationships and network with colleagues. The focus will be on the small changes that people can make in order to introduce a coaching approach and how to integrate the approach into their existing communication style. All participants will gain European Mentoring & Coaching Council accreditation.

This intensive training programme has been heavily subsidised by EPIC Workforce Development to promote and enhance leadership development in Essex, it is therefore expected that candidates applying are committed to working and developing leadership skills in Essex. Applicants must be able attend all four days and the total cost will be £400.00 payable once your place has been secured.
