Job Posting: Communications, Digital Media & Marketing Specialist The Organization Since 1981, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Toronto has served as a place to call home for families with seriously ill children undergoing treatment. RMHC Toronto encompasses a House for 81 families in downtown Toronto and seven Family Rooms in hospitals across the Greater Toronto Area and in Sudbury. The families we serve – 5,139 last year alone – come from throughout Ontario, across Canada and around the world. Job Summary Reporting to the Associate Director, Marketing & Communications, the Communications, Digital Media & Marketing Specialist provides support to a dynamic and varied print and digital portfolio which includes social media, publications, website management, media relations, direct marketing, event marketing and branding. The Specialist is a point of contact for donors, volunteers, external consultants, media, staff and families supported by RMHC Toronto. Key Contributions 

      

Working collaboratively with the Associate Director, Marketing & Communications, the Communications, Digital Media & Marketing Specialist supports all RMHC Toronto digital and print communications and marketing activities including, but not limited to social media, newsletters, e-newsletters, annual reports, website, direct mail, fundraising collateral, media relations, event promotion and digital marketing initiatives, managing critical paths and timelines as appropriate; Takes leadership on social media strategy, content generation and follower engagement; Leads production of monthly e-newsletters and periodic donor e-blasts; Proactively pitches stories to the news media to enhance our earned media coverage; Supports the Associate Director in delivering a robust direct marketing campaign that achieves revenue targets; Updates the website with relevant text and image content, helping optimize our search engine results; Provides support to the Development team to assist each portfolio in reaching revenue goals, including through stewardship reports and donor proposals; Supports the marketing of and collateral creation for signature events;

Liaises with internal departments and external suppliers to design and produce both internal and external collateral materials; Ensures that RMHC Toronto adheres to brand standards in all communications; Performs other duties as assigned.

Key Skills               

University degree or community college diploma in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or related area; Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a communications and/or marketing role, preferably in a not-for-profit environment; Exceptional writer; Has a passion for storytelling; Strong verbal and interpersonal communications skills; Demonstrated experience managing social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn); Experience working with 3rd party vendors (printers and freelance designers); Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign; Experience with website content management software; Experience with digital design projects including developing and deploying emails using CRM platforms; Detail-oriented with excellent proofreading skills; Able to prioritize and manage different and varied tasks simultaneously in a service-oriented environment; Self-starter who can work independently and within a team, as necessary; Able to work professionally and compassionately with donors, volunteers and families served by RMHC Toronto; Committed to setting and achieving targets; Able to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, as needed.
