Comprehensive Cancer Control National Partnership Announces New Leadership Nina Miller, MSSW, OSW-C and Cynthia Vinson, PhD, MPA set to serve as chair and co-chair of CCCNP Leadership Group in 2017 ATLANTA (January 17, 2017) -- The Comprehensive Cancer Control National Partnership (CCCNP) is pleased to announce that Nina Miller, MSSW, OSW-C, cancer liaison initiatives manager, American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, and Cynthia Vinson, PhD, MPA, senior advisor for implementation science, Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences at the National Cancer Institute have been elected as the chair and vice-chair of the CCCNP Leadership Group. In these roles, Miller and Vinson will be responsible for providing leadership to the 18 partner organizations that make up the CCCNP. The Comprehensive Cancer Control National Partnership, established in 1998, is a collaborative group of diverse national organizations working together to build and strengthen comprehensive cancer control efforts across the nation. Today, the CCCNP is an influential group of leading cancer organizations that utilize their combined strengths and resources to change the trajectory of the cancer burden in the U.S. “I am honored to be asked to serve as Chair of the CCCNP and I look forward to working with this amazing group of partners as they collaborate to support the work of cancer coalitions around the country,” said Miller. “National partners bring their resources, talents and a sprit that drives a national agenda for cancer control.” The CCCNP Leadership Group identifies opportunities to coordinate across priority areas and member organizations, ensures that CCCNP structure is optimal for implementing priorities and provides recommendations to the full CCCNP leadership regarding priority issues, membership requests and resource needs. The current focus areas of the National Partnership include: • • • •
Increasing human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination uptake Increasing colorectal cancer screening rates to 80% by 2018 Increasing availability of tobacco cessation services for cancer survivors Sustaining successful comprehensive cancer control coalitions
“In 2017 the CCCNP will work to maximize partner engagement, expand our focus of support to coalitions, enhance our reach and build upon the successes of the work that has been done since the CCCNP was formed in 1998,” said Miller. Vinson, who also serves as the chair of the HPV Vaccination
Uptake workgroup, shared Miller’s vision and added, “It’s a unique moment for collaboration in the cancer world. With recent initiatives like the Cancer Moonshot, it’s more important than ever that we leverage the resources of cancer programs across the country to make progress on some of the most pressing issues in cancer prevention and control today”. ### About the Comprehensive Cancer Control National Partnership The Comprehensive Cancer Control National Partnership (CCCNP) consists of 18 leading national cancer organizations that come together to utilize their combined strengths and resources to support and advance the work of comprehensive cancer control coalitions.
