Welcome to Bangkok! I’m so glad you’re here with us in Thailand’s capital for what promises to be one of our best and most amazing conferences yet. Your presence is an indication that you’re committed to ISHC, to the practice of consulting, and to making a positive difference in the global hospitality, tourism and leisure industries. Like you, I’ve kept fond memories of our global get-togethers—from Budapest to Berlin—and this one will no doubt be the “same, same but different.” Conference Chair Bill Barnett has put together an excellent program packed with exciting speeches, thought-provoking panels, and unique experiences such as the Off the Beaten Track Walking & Tuk Tuk Tour and Long Boat “Khlong” Canal Tour & Dinner. One of the most important aspects of our conferences has always been the camaraderie. Whether you are a long-time member, new member, candidate, Friend of the Society, esteemed guest or spouse, remember that you are in and among the best of the best. I encourage you to soak up every opportunity to inspire, and or be inspired, by sharing your knowledge, experiences, and points of view. This is how we shape and influence one another’s perspectives of our industry and world—which may be the most valuable take away. I also encourage you to take a moment during the conference to thank our Executive Director, Andrea Belfanti, and Senior Manager of Marketing & Membership Services, Lauren Marshall, for their continuous hard work and dedication. Others deserving of your gratitude are the Board of Directors and Committee Chairs who have invested countless hours on behalf of ISHC, most especially outgoing Chairman David Neff, the very best twotime Chair the Society has ever had.
