Conferences Internship Description

The International Leadership Association is seeking a Conferences Intern to assist in pre-conference planning and projects for upcoming events in 2017 & 2018. The intern will report directly to the Director of Conferences and work closely with our staff and members. Duration: The majority of the work will be completed during the Fall 2017 semester. Intern could start earlier if they desired. Outstanding performance may lead to an opportunity to extend employment after the internship ends. Hours: During the semester, we would expect 10‐20 hours a week. A typical work schedule would be 2‐3 days a week in the office. Schedule and teleworking are negotiable. Location: ILA is located in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland. We are steps away from the Silver Spring Metro Stop. Compensation & Other Benefits: Paid and unpaid are available. Duties and Responsibilities:  Assist with the organization of logistics for small and large conferences in the USA and abroad.  Conduct research on organizations, businesses, programs, fellowships, and other potential targets for ILA’s events and services. Qualifications:  Exemplary written and oral communication skills.  Proactive and positive customer-service attitude and skill set.  Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).  Desire to learn about, or already have the experience in, conference/event planning.  Intercultural competence and/or the desire to experience cultural diversity.  Attention to detail, ability to manage projects to completion according to deadlines, and the skills to effectively communicate to customers are all must-have qualifications for role.  Ability to travel off-site to meetings if necessary (some international).
