Therefore, if a building or unit has 15 members, one Faculty Representative and one Alternate should be elected. If a building or unit has 43 members, 3 representatives and 3 alternates should be elected. Before the end of April, current Senior Faculty Representatives will receive a memo by email and by school mail with additional information. School Library Month Andy Weir, author of the bestseller The Martian, credits his school library with providing him a haven from teasing at school. He told the American Association of School Librarians, “The school library became my sanctuary. It was the one place I could go without encountering the bullies who would harass and belittle me. I’d read random encyclopedia entries—an early version of a ‘Wikipedia Wander.’” Every April, the Association along with the American Library Association honors school librarians across the country. This year’s theme is, “Because School Libraries Empower Students.” Librarians teach our children to love reading. They help students become efficient researchers, encourage critical thinking, and help nourish their curiosity. In 1985, on the occasion of the first official, monthlong commemoration, U.S. Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan declared publicly, “I want to thank you for what you do. I hope you know how important your work is. You change lives for the better. You touch people while they can still be touched." Take some time to stop in and say, “Thanks!” to your school Library Media Specialist.

No One Should Go Hungry CEA is partnering with the Mid-Ohio Foodbank’s Operation Feed campaign, conducted online to raise funds to continue feeding our neighbors. When you give, you provide fresh, healthy food for families who are struggling to make ends meet. Some of these are the families of our students or may work in our buildings. You help make it possible to distribute canned foods and fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, and bread to them through food pantries located throughout the region. CEA’s campaign runs through Thursday, April 13. Participate by using our online donation page specific to CEA. You can select your school from the dropdown menu on the page and your school will get credit for every meal raised. $1 = 4 meals! To donate, go to: https://www.midohiofoodbank.org/CEA. One-hundred percent of every donation to our Operation Feed campaign goes to provide more than 68 million pounds of fresh, healthy food for local families annually. Please encourage everyone in your school to join in the meal-raising challenge.
