LINK OR EMBED MEDIASITE PRESENTATIONS IN CONNECT Any Mediasite video, whether recorded via a videoconference, using the Mediasite Desktop Recorder, or a pre-recorded video can be viewed in Connect using either the link or embed code of the presentation.

MY MEDIASITE USERS If you created or uploaded a video using My Mediasite you can access the link and embed code by clicking on the Share tab of your presentation.

OTHER VIDEOSTREAMING USERS If your presentation was created over videoconference or your video was loaded by the Videostreaming Coordinator you will be sent the link and / or embed code of your presentation, for example: Link: https://mediasite.videolinq.tafe.net/Mediasite/Play/6fbac54fc63349bbac7da0dac60b30431d Embed code:

INSERTING A LINK IN A CONNECT NEWS ITEM To add a link to a News item click the News dropdown menu and select New News Item.

Enter the Headline and Content and click the Insert Stuff icon.

Click Insert Link and paste the Mediasite link in the URL field. Click Next.

Type in the name of your video and click Insert.

Your link will be inserted in your news item. If you’re happy with the item click Publish.

Your news item will now appear on the front page with a link to the video. Please be aware that when adding a link to your presentation it will open your video in a new window. Connect will still remain open on the news item for your students to return to when they’re ready.

For more information on adding a News item visit our TAFE Queensland Connect YouTube channel and watch the video News: Adding a News Item. A printable guide for adding News items is available from the above link. You can also visit Connect Help and view articles on using News items, as well as specifically how to create a News item.

INSERTING AN EMBED CODE AS A CONNECT TOPIC Depending on how your unit is set up you may like to add a link as a topic within an existing module, or you may like your videos to sit under their own module. In this example I’m going to add my link as a topic to an existing module. Go to your unit’s Table of Contents and select the module where you want your video to sit (in this example it’s Welcome). Click New. Remember that if you want to add content to your unit you must be in the Educator – Add Content role.

Select Video or Audio.

Enter the embed code. If your embed code doesn’t already state it, please change the video width to 925 and the height to 650. This will ensure that it fits across the page. Give your video a title. Click Save.

Your video will now be embedded in your content.

For more information on adding a Topic visit our TAFE Queensland Connect YouTube channel and watch the video Educator: Content – Add Topics. A printable guide for adding Topics is available from the above link. You can also visit Connect Help and view articles on Content, as well as specifically how to add a video.
