Message from Mr Mellen What a brilliant week it has been here at Cedar Mount. Year 11 have started their GCSEs with dedication and maturity, students have graduated from The Brilliant Club, trips of various kinds have taken place, we have had a poetry visitor and yesterday we appointed our new Student Leadership Team ready for September. It was a complete privilege to sit with Mrs Watson yesterday and listen to articulate, intelligent young people speak with passion about all that Cedar Mount means to them and all that they want Meet the new Student our school to be. It is a credit to our school and to their families that we have produced such wonderful students and I am looking Leadership Team forward to them building on the excellent work of the current leadership team. Out with the old.....in with the new!  With the current Year 11 students studying hard for their GCSE exams it’s time to put in place our brand new Student Leadership Team 18 . The process, led by Mrs Watson & Mr Mellen involved students submitting letters of application as well as being interviewed before being awarded their new roles. We are delighted to introduce the new Head Boy and Head Girl, Samuel & Mia along with their Deputies, Abu Bakkar, Ellena, Mollie & Senior Prefects, Joud, Aya, Isaiah & Ashkan.  Mr Mellen & the staff would like to thank last year's brilliant team, Elijah, Callum, Aliza & Aaminah for all they have done to represent CMA over the last twelve months. You've been amazing! They plan to hand over the baton at the end of the exam season. We have every confidence this group of mature and confident individuals will do a great job in the coming year. Good Luck!

Sporting News Our Y9/10 boys smashed it this week when they won a the basketball tournament they were competing in for the first time, considering this is the first year we've had a team this is a major  achievement for the lads. Well done boys!

Y11 Study Weekend - Ghyll Head Dr Boyd, Miss Ford, Miss Reid, Mr Mellen delivered a series of English revision activities during the residential to Ghyll Head.  This was to support our Year 11 students for preparing for their Literature exams on the 22nd and 25th May. The weekend was a huge success – all pupils were really engaged – we loved going outside and exploring the beauty of the Windermere, using the beauty of the surroundings to inspire creative writing too. We had a poetry workshop, Shakespeare ‘Pass the Parcel’ and An Inspector Calls dingbats with quotation analysis. Miss Ford had her groups sitting outside in the sunshine with the glorious Lake Windermere in sight; Dr Boyd took her groups out on a ramble out and about to enjoy the glory of nature (a total of 750 photos, was it?) and Miss Reid took her groups out by the stream and we had a ‘moment’ after reading out our creative writing inspired by our surroundings. Mr Mellen, too, commented on the success of the weekend and the engagement of all pupils.  Thanks also to Mr Gupta, Ms Kaplanidis and Miss Gill for supporting the study weekend – they enjoyed the zip wire, canoeing and what a super driver Miss Gill was so Miss Reid could sleep on the journey home!

Y9 Trip to Horse & Hound Unit - GMP This week Miss Austin and Miss Pereira took 13 students to the Horse and Hound Unit as a part of the MOSAIC mentoring scheme. The visit was intended to show students different careers available and the work that goes into training police dogs and horses. The students involved were well behaved throughout, asking insightful questions and listening intently to all of the information given. Members of the MOSAIC mentoring scheme have also been offered exciting work experience opportunities due to their positive engagement.
