Welcome!
We are delighted to welcome you to the 2018 CPSA World English Sporting Championships, being held for the third successive time at the superb facilities of E.J. Churchill Shooting Ground and West Wycombe Estate. As 2018 marks the 90th anniversary of the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association, it is fitting that we are hosting our biggest ever festival of shooting attracting shooters from round the world. With this event continuing to grow every time it is held on home soil, we are committed to improving on the already high standard that has been set. Our thanks must go to Sir Edward Dashwood for allowing us to use the grounds and to Rob Fenwick and his team and George Digweed MBE for the immense amount of hard work and planning that has been invested again this year, alongside the CPSA team.
Promatic also makes significant investment in CPSA Championships and are a vital cog in the smooth running of the event and we are delighted to have secured their support with traps in service across the estate for all competitions. Working in tandem with CCI clays, another outstanding British manufacturer – minimal breakages mean fewer hold ups and we know we can rely on CCI clays when it matters most at the big competitions. Finally, we would like to wish everyone an enjoyable, successful and memorable Championship week, we look forward to seeing you all there!
We were all thrilled to see the response as soon as entries opened in December last year and as a result we now have a full week-long schedule for this festival of shooting and this is sure to be a memorable week for our sport. We are very proud once more to be hosting this amazing festival of shooting with the highlight being the CPSA World English Sporting Championships. This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to compete at the highest level. Our team have worked tirelessly on making sure this year’s event is bigger and better than ever and we do hope you enjoy all the shooting that we have put on. It is the first time that George Digweed MBE, now part of the E. J. Churchill team, has ever set a World Championship course. We are delighted to have him on board and we have put his amazing knowledge and experience from over four decades of shooting at World events to use. He has set a wonderful mix of targets which will be enjoyable for every shooter, whatever your ability. We must thank everyone involved with the event and especially all at E.J. Churchill who have worked non-stop for many months to make this a world class experience and to show off the Estate, Shooting Ground and the E.J. Churchill Event Village at its very best. The CPSA World English Sporting Championships is getting even bigger this year, with over 1,400 entries. Planned by E.J. Churchill’s Global Shooting Ambassador George Digweed MBE, the course is divided into two – red and blue. Each course features 100 targets designed to test your shooting ability. Each day you will shoot the courses at the same time – for example if you start at 9:00 on the Tuesday, you will do the same on the Wednesday. As is now customary for CPSA Sporting shoots, everyone will start on stand one and work their way around the course with the rest of the six-person squad. We ask that you please get to stand one with plenty of spare time in case we are running early. There has been a high demand to shoot this Championship and over 1,400 people will take to the World English Sporting course over three sets of rotations across the week. Broken down over Tuesday
/ Wednesday, Thursday / Friday and Saturday / Sunday, there are two squads starting at the same time on each course. On the Sunday afternoon there will be a six-person Super Final to decide the overall World Champion. The Super Final will consist of the top six shooters from the six days of shooting and will be a 25 target shoot-off held in front of the glorious backdrop of the West Wycombe Estate. Scores from the main event will be carried into the Super Final, with shoot offs to decide the six places – and to decide any other ties for prizes – taking place beforehand. Please refer to the programme of events on page 10 for information regarding shoot offs and prize giving in the World Sportap, FITASC Sporting and English Prelim Sporting.

CPSA Dress Code As per Booklet Number 1 CPSA General and Technical Rules, competitors will be expected to be in a tidy and clean condition and should not contain any messages, images or slogans that may reasonably cause offence to others. The desired standard to be achieved will be ‘smart casual’ The guidelines for appropriate dress code are as follows: • • • • • • • • •
Short sleeves of no less than 10cm from the armpit as a minimum must be worn at all times Full length trousers or tailored shorts to the knee must all be worn at all times No naked torsos Cut-off jeans or trousers or any type of shorts other than tailored shorts are not allowed Torn, slashed or shredded shirts, jeans, trousers or skirts are not allowed Military or camouflaged clothing is not allowed Any excessively worn, dirty or dishevelled clothing or footwear is not allowed Any footwear that exposes the foot, for example sandals or flip flops is not allowed Any other garments or personal appearances that go against the spirit of the CPSA Dress Code is not allowed

Trophy
The Blaser Inter-Continental Trophy is a fantastic feature of the week, pitching England and USA senior teams against each other in an entertaining shoot-off. “We are delighted to be associated with this exclusive competition for the third time in six years. The Blaser Intercontinental, which is fast becoming known as the “B” and is held this year at the award-winning ground of E.J. Churchill and located at one of the country’s finest sporting estates. The event is held every second year and is an opportunity for the qualifiers who are represented by the USA and England to battle it out for the impressive trophy. Programme of Events CPSA WORLD ENGLISH SPORTING (TUESDAY 26 JUNE – SUNDAY 1 JULY): The World English Sporting is a 200-target shoot over two days. The shoot is split into two courses – red and blue.
