CONDITIONS Eligibility Open only to artists who are present or past students or staff of CQUniversity and CQ TAFE.
Entry There is no entry fee. Each artist is permitted one entry with details and digital images or a video/DVD of up to two artworks. Only one artwork per artist will be accepted. Images of artworks must be in JPEG format submitted on a CD or a USBflashdrive. Images must be a minimum of 100KB and less than 1MB. Videos or DVDs must be no longer than 5 minutes. Works chosen for the exhibition will be pre-selected from the images or video/DVD.
Entry forms and images of artworks must be received by 3pm 18 April 2014, hand-delivered or posted to: Art Collection Manager CQUniversity Bldg 2/LG.10 Bruce Highway Rockhampton QLD 4702 Artists whose entries are accepted will be notified via phone or email by 2 May. If you wish to have your CD, USB, video or DVD returned, you must include a selfaddressed stamped envelope.
Artwork Each 2-D artwork (including works in multiple parts) must be no larger than two metres in any given dimension (including all parts & frame). 3-D artworks should not exceed two metres in height or 1.5 cubic metres. Videos/DVDs must be no longer than five minutes.
Artworks must have been executed since 1 April 2013 and may be on any theme in a 2-D or 3-D art or craft medium or a video/DVD. Selected artworks must be delivered on Thursday 11 September from 9am – 4pm to the Rockhampton Gallery Space, Walter Reid Cultural Centre, Rockhampton. Artworks must arrive suitably wrapped (bubble wrap is recommended) or in a sturdy, reusable container, to allow transportation of artworks to the exhibition in Gladstone. Artworks must be collected on Tuesday 30 September from 9am – 4pm from the Leo Zussino Building, CQUniversity Gladstone Campus.
Costs, delivery and collection Freight costs and all other costs related to the delivery and collection of each Artwork entered into CQU Creates will be paid by the artist. Artists may hand-deliver and collect their work in person. The artist is responsible for any delivery and collection freight arrangements with a specific carrier.
Prize, purchases
The artwork judged Best in Show (award of $1000 non-acquisitive) will be announced at the Opening Reception, Walter Reid Cultural Centre, Rockhampton, Friday 12 September 2014 from 6pm to 7:30pm. The Judge’s decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. This is a non-selling exhibition. Enquiries related to the purchase of artworks will be referred to artists.
Intellectual property rights, promotion Each artist warrants that the artist does not breach any international copyright laws. Each artist selected as a finalist authorises CQUniversity to publish their artwork in all publications (catalogues, media releases, CQUni News etc.) related to CQU Creates, as well as on the CQUniversity website. Each artist agrees to allow CQUniversity the unconditional use of the artwork owned by that artist for promotions, media, advertising and announcements without compensation, consideration, notice, review or consent where permitted. Each artist may be asked to provide highresolution files of the photograph of their artwork for promotional material.
