A R T I S T S (continued) The Coqui Fine Arts Studio Contemporary Artist Andrew Scott Atkin and his wife, Hildy, also affectionately known as “THE A TEAM.” The Atkin's work out of their home studio “The Coqui Fine Art Studio,” located in the Granite Falls area of NC. “Amorak Studio Productions,” Andrew's first studio was established in 1987, and since then he has proceeded to gain in status and recognition in the visual arts throughout the Carolinas, FL, Virginia, Kentucky, California, Texas, NJ, and Puerto Rico. Andrew graduated with honors from Eastern Kentucky University with a B.F.A. degree, and he also earned a Masters degree in the visual arts and painting program from Western Carolina University. Hildy graduated from Brenau University in Gainesville, GA with a BA in Education, and a Masters degree in Middle Grades Math/Science. Mrs. Atkin has always been a large supporter of local Artists, musicians, and the various galleries and Art venues that promote local Artists. She was once the owner and operator of “Hidden Dimensions,” a small Gallery in the Hickory area that promoted local talent, until an unfortunate motorcycle accident while riding her Harley forced her to close the gallery. Her works may be found in many homes throughout the USA and Puerto Rico. Most recently, The Atkin's (who paint mostly in acrylic) have been collaborating on commissioned works of art, and personal creations as well. Three new products to come out of their Studio are; 4x4 sq. inch hand painted porcelain Italian tiles, CARINITES wearable Light Catchers and Mendalions and Hemp My Way jewelry. The CARINITES are a combination of two worlds and get their name because much of the material used to create the pieces come from the Caribbean Sea and Hiddenite Gem mines of NC. Most of the materials in these creations were hand picked or extracted by the Atkin's who love to spend their time finding treasures and gifts from Mother Earth to incorporate into their work. The Atkin's are currently experiencing a transition in their personal and very demanding art careers as they are actively seeking to expand gallery support and representation abroad.
