A Postcard from Rochdale Create your own Postcard from Rochdale! Our new open art competition with three art prizes including your chance to win £100. You will also have the opportunity to donate your artwork to our archives as a legacy of the exhibition, your chance to go down in history!

Young People’s Prize

All mediums are encouraged as long as they are received as original 2D works which are postcard size. The dimensions of the postcard should be 6 inches x 4 inches and can be landscape or portrait.

Entrants should deliver their work to Touchstones Rochdale before 5pm on Saturday 13th January 2018. Please note late entries will not be accepted.

To nurture our youngest talent in the borough an under 13’s children’s prize will include a number of free tickets to Touchstones Rochdale’s events and theatre productions as well as vouchers for purchasing art materials.

For all you sculptors and ceramicists if you have a 3D piece you would like to submit this can be sent as a photograph. Why not think about creating your artwork digitally (photography, Photoshop, Illustrator etc.) as well as the more traditional mediums of drawing, painting, printing, collage or textiles. Where and when will they be displayed?

Who can enter?

All entries will be displayed at Touchstones Rochdale in our Gallery One exhibition space, 20 January – 14 April 2018.

Anyone who lives, works or studies in the Rochdale borough. This includes Rochdale, Heywood, Middleton, Littleborough and Milnrow.

Donate your artwork to our local studies archive to be part of Rochdale’s History

Theme

Everyone who enters will have the option of donating their postcard to our Local Studies Archive for future generations to explore. Donating to the archive will mean your postcard is preserved in history as a snap shot of life in 2018!

Inspired by mail art which became popular in the 1960s when artists sent artworks through the post rather than exhibiting them through conventional commercial Submitting your entry channels, we want you to deliver your art to us! Handmade, altered and bespoke postcards can be created in a variety of materials. Artworks have always been created to convey messages to their audience. What visual message would you send about Rochdale with your postcard?

Complete the entry form on the reverse of this leaflet with all your details. Cost Entries cost £5 per postcard for adults and £2 per postcard for under 18’s and full time students. Individuals can submit multiple artworks to the exhibition. The charge is payable on delivery of your design to Touchstones Rochdale and can be paid by cash or card.

Your postcard entry for sale!

Put your postcard up for sale in the exhibition. If your artwork has been sold you will be informed by the end of the exhibition.
