Initially wooden sailing ships were used for fishing and the transporting of goods between the islands and the Croatian mainland. With continued improvement of vessels in the area, sails were replaced with diesel engines and boats continued to grow in size.

Dubrovnik is a city built on the beauty of stonework, both that of the limestone pavement on the main street of Stradun and the fortified city walls surrounding the Old Town. Known as the “Pearl of the Adriatic”, Dubrovnik offers both old and new in its medieval architecture and cable car vantage points. Bursting with palaces and museums, this is a destination of discovery and elegance. Picturesque monasteries and churches intermingle with forts and gates built into the lifelines of the city, creating classic 13th century vistas wherever you turn.

A picturesque island, Korcula contains one of the most impressively preserved medieval cities in the Mediterranean and is an unforgettable experience on all of our cruises. Korcula Town, often referred to as “Little Dubrovnik”, has similar architectural hallmarks as Dubrovnik in its timeless city walls and enchanting antiquated streets. Sights such as St. Mark’s Cathedral and customs including moreska, a traditional sword dance, are part of the rich cultural tapestry that makes Korcula so unique. Believed by some to be Marco Polo’s place of birth, Korcula is home to more legends, stories and monuments than anywhere else on the Dalmatian coast.

Situated southwest of the island of Vis, Bisevo is a small addition to the central Dalmatian archipelago. Though sometimes overlooked, Bisevo is home to the Blue Cave, a hidden jewel of natural beauty known throughout the Adriatic. Blue Cave is named for the cerulean glow that permeates the cave when natural light reflects off the white sand seabed, creating an ephemeral experience and a magnificent photo opportunity.

Brac

Split

Featured in many of our itineraries, Brac is a paradise of smooth, curling shores and rocky inland peaks. With an economic focus on wine and olives, the island offers a quality selection of traditional cuisine at its various taverns and eateries. Home of the iconic Zlatni Rat – or Golden Horn – beach, the old town of Bol is famous as one of the most naturally idyllic places to swim and windsurf in Croatia. The settlement of Pucisca, on the other hand, is celebrated for its spectacular building style, particularly in the design of its gorgeous white stone houses. A stonemasonry school now serves as one of the area’s most fascinating highlights.

A haven of Roman architecture, Split is the second largest city in Croatia and an embarkation point for many of our cruises. Though a centre of transport for travellers heading out to nearby islands or heading inland for the region’s rivers and lakes, the city itself is no mere stopover. On occasion, your cruise ship may be moored alongside a number of other vessels when embarking on disembarking. The view from your cabin window may also be blocked when there is another ship alongside.
