About CSI Day: 6th March 1965 was the day of formation of the Computer Society of India as a Society. The purposes of the Society are scientific and educational, directed towards the advancement of the theory and practice of computer science and information technology. CSI started with a handful of IT enthusiasts in 1965 has today grown as the largest and professionally managed association of and for IT professionals, academic and student community in India with over 100,000 members consisting of Professionals with varied backgrounds, Faculty and Students of CSE & IT streams. It has over 70 chapters all over the country and serves the academic & student community through its network of over 500 student branches and around 800 institutional members. CSI has affiliations with a number of international societies with similar interest such as IEEE, IEEE CS, ACM, SCS, BCS, CSSL to name a few. CSI represents India in IFIP – International Federation for Information Processing, a society that represents IT Societies from 56 countries/regions. CSI also plays a leading role in SEARCC – South East Asian Regional Computer Confederation, a forum of national information technology professional societies in the Asia Pacific region.
