Graduationand Requirements CTE Opportunities The Glendale Union High School District diploma is designed to satisfy the graduation requirements established by the State Board of Education and those of the GUHSD Governing Board. Meeting these minimum requirements will result in a high school diploma. Additional credits are required for acceptance into a college or university, and results in an “endorsed” diploma. The required twenty credits (minimum) or twenty three credits (endorsement) are earned by taking the following required courses: 4 credits of Language Arts 3 credits of Social Studies 2 credits of Science (3 credits for endorsement) 2 credits of Math (4 credits for endorsement) 1 credit of Fine Arts OR CTE (Fine Arts for endorsement) 1 credit of Physical Education (2 credits of Foreign Language for endorsement) •

5-7 credits of ELECTIVES can be selected from the course offerings for each high school. Consider exploring your desired career path through related CTE courses.

ALL CTE programs offer post-secondary opportunities through community colleges, universities, trade schools and apprenticeships. Academic Integration GUHSD is committed to rigorous and relevant learning for ALL students. CTE teachers are actively working with teachers of other disciplines to align standards, tests and essential skills to enhance instruction. This focus of learning integrates academic skills which may include the following: Computer Science Language Arts Math Science Social Studies

Students in Culinary Arts program have the opportunity to get involved in Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), a Career and Technical Education Student Organization where students learn leadership, personal development, and team work skills for careers in culinary arts.

Upon passing the exam students will receive: National Certification from the National Restaurant Association (NRA) Educational Foundation.

he Culinary Arts Program is designed to prepare students to apply technical knowledge and skills required for food production and service occupations. Students completing this program will possess the technical knowledge and skills required for planning, selecting, storing, purchasing, preparing and serving quality food products. Nutritive values, safety and sanitation procedures, use of commercial equipment, serving techniques, special diets and management of food establishments will also be studied.
