Explore the region’s

Day 2 is all about venturing out of the city centre to explore the wider region’s farmgates, wineries and artisan producers, including a stop at Robinvale. Robinvale sits on the south bank of the Murray River and is known for its produce including grapes, olives, carrots and almonds.

Wineries and farms Known as one of Australia’s fastest growing family owned and operated wineries, Andrew Peace Wines takes advantage of Swan Hill’s Mediterranean climate to produce classic red and whites using state-of-the-art winemaking facilities. Another must-see attraction is Olson Game Birds, a supplier of game birds to Australia’s best restaurants. The farm is also open for guided tours, with Devonshire tea supplements available. The region is also home to many farmgates, all just moments from the city centre. For locally grown stone fruit, visit Annie’s Fresh Fruit and Preserves in Beverford, Morpeth Farms in Woorinen or Lake Boga Farms in Lake Boga – the latter also grows and sells strawberries, cherries and other summer fruits when they are in season. For fresh seasonal produce, look out for self service huts dotted along the Murray Valley Highway from Lake Boga to Robinvale.

An afternoon in Robinvale Wines is famous for producing bio-dynamic wines on a 30-hectare vineyard on the Murray River. Their extensive repertoire includes vegan and vegetarian-friendly wines as well as their signature range of non-alcoholic sparkling wines. Afterwards, be sure to stop at Robinvale Estate Olive Oil where you can discover the Natale family’s range of dressings and oils, including the hard-to-find Argrumato oil.

Lunch in Robinvale If you find yourself hungry in Robinvale, go to Loft 13 for fresh and wholesome food that is made on site daily – there is also a selection of vegan, raw, gluten-free and sugar-free dishes. For classic Thai fare including hearty curries and stir-fries, be sure to try local favourite Mali Thai. Be warned: it gets busy during peak times.
