Preface As I sit here on the third floor of the Arizona State Senate building, I struggle to type these first few words. Like a dam that has been blocked up for years, the words begin to excruciatingly trickle onto the computer screen. A few moments ago I was reading a quote by Aaron Sorkin talking about the hardest part of the writing process is starting. That quote, and a wonderful documentary I watched last night entitled, "When You're Strange", a film about The Doors has given me enough inspiration to go beyond my daily intention which inevitably becomes just that, an intention. Well, let me just say this, if good intentions counted for anything I would be running the world! So here you go world, here's where my good intentions become a reality (knock on wood) here's where the rubber meets the road. In all seriousness though I remember thinking at a very young age, that my life was too dramatic to be real and it had to be some kind of Truman Show kinda shit where my mother was an actor as was everyone else in my life. In hindsight I think that is how I rationalized
how fucked up my life was growing up. “There's no way this can be realâ€, I would think to myself. “This has to be some kind of setupâ€. I remember thinking that when people weren't in my sight they were all in trailers getting their hair and makeup done, rehearsing their lines. I know, totally fucking bonkers right? I hadn't smoked one joint or dropped one hit of acid, but I was as textbook delusional as they come right? I mean delusions of grandeur would be an understatement would it not? Maybe I was just a spoiled little shit raised by a manic depressive mother and a controlling grandmother who thought the world literally revolved around him? Whatever the case may be, here is the story of my life. The story that I have longed to tell for some time now but was too busy actually living it or too lazy to tell anyone about it. Everything I am about to tell you is absolutely true and even as I write these words I feel the dam loosening up and the water beginning to flow. I hope that you will draw inspiration and hope from my story and even if it changes only one person's life for the better, it will have all been worth it!
