SPECIAL TEAMS

Anthony Lawrence, San Diego

Kieran Severa, Drake Senior | Linebacker Lawrence, Kansas

Sophomore | Kick Returner Dorchester, Massachusetts

Lawrence posted 450 total offensive yards and was responsible for five touchdowns as San Diego opened its PFL schedule with a 49-10 victory against Stetson, Saturday. He completed 27-of-32 passes for 425 yards and threw four touchdowns then added a touchdown run on a four-carry, 25-yard ground effort. Lawrence tied his career highs for touchdown passes and set his career high for pass completions in the contest. He moved into second on San Diego’s career passing yards chart with the outing, ending the week with 9,772 yards. The Hatters will be happy to see Lawrence graduate as he has completed 91of-114 passes for 1,476 yards and 13 touchdowns (no interceptions) in his career against the Hatters.

Severa led the best defensive effort in the PFL during Week 5, Drake holding Jacksonville to 218 offensive yards en route to a 41-9 victory, Saturday. Severa was responsible for eight tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He also recovered a fumble on Jacksonville’s final possession. Severa opened his day with a statement on Jacksonville’s second possession, recording a tackle for loss and a sack to force a punt that the Drake special teams blocked for an instant red zone opportunity. He also had a tackle for loss on fourthand-goal from the three-yard line on the Dolphins opening drive of the second half.

Johnson helped turn the tide with a big kick return to set up Marist’s go-ahead scoring drive in a 28-14 PFL victory against Dayton, Saturday. Moments after Dayton took a 17-14 lead, Johnson broke off a 54-yard kickoff return to setup Marist’s offense at the Dayton 45-yard line. 2018 PIONEER FOOTBALL LEAGUE WEEKLY REPORT WEEK 6 QUICK THOUGHTS | It could be a milestone weekend across the league as a trio of PFL athletes seek to join exclusive clubs (see below)… The league’s marquee matchup will take place in Des Moines, Iowa in the annual Battle of the Bulldogs between Butler and Drake, who each enter the contest with 1-0 league marks… Drake will own the defensive edge, boasting the PFL’s top defensive unit in total defense (264.7 yards allowed) and pass efficiency defense (103.6 rating)… Butler will counter with the league’s No. 3 scoring defense which has held opponents to 27.2 points per game thanks to the No. 2 Red Zone defense, which has allowed opponents to scored on just 68 percent of their red zone chances… San Diego will put its 1-0 league mark to the test with a trip to Morehead State in a matchup of the league’s No. 3 and No. 5 ranked offenses by yardage, respectively… The PFL’s top two rushing teams will square off when Davidson (403.6 rush ypg) hosts Jacksonville (282.3 rush ypg), both teams being held below 200 rushing yards just once each this season… Valparaiso seeks its first win of 2018 when it heads south to face a Dayton team that is unbeaten at home this season… Marist, fresh off its season’s first win, steps out of PFL play this weekend when it faces Ivy League-member Columbia in New York City. USD’s LAWRENCE NEARS 10,000 YARDS | San Diego’s Anthony Lawrence will seek to become

the seventh PFL quarterback to pass for more than 10,000 career yards this week, entering Week 6 with 9,772 career yards. He would become the second San Diego quarterback to reach the milestone, joining Mason Mills (10,204 yards, 2010-13). The PFL record for career passing yards is 11,230 yards held by Jacksonville’s Josh McGregor.

DAYTON’S YINGER ON DOORSTEP TO 3,000 YARDS | Meanwhile, Dayton running back Tucker Yinger will seek to move past the 3,000 career rushing yard mark, becoming the 12th PFL rusher to reach the mileston. He would join Connor Kacsor (3,528 yards) as the only Dayton runners to breach 3,000 career rushing yards. RED FOXES’ CHRISTIAN SEEKS RECEIVERS RECORD | Marist wideout Juston Christian is on his way to setting the PFL record for most career receiving yards, entering Week 6 with 3,199 yards receiving. He needs 607 yards to break the record set by Valparaiso’s Rob Giancola (3,804 yards, 2001-04). He is only the sixth receiver in league history to amass 3,000 career receiving yards.

CAN TEMPLE JOIN RECEIVING RANKS? | While the 3,000 career receiving yard club only has six

members currently, Butler’s Pace Temple seeks to join the group. With 2,634 career yards entering Week 6, he stands a good chance of becoming lucky number seven.

c – co-champions # - Jacksonville vacated its 2010 co-championship as part of penalties for PFL rules violations. Notes on PFL Championship: From 1993-2000 – and returning to the format in 2005 – the PFL was composed of one division and the championship was awarded to the team with the best conference record. From 2001-2005, the league expanded and split into two divisions with the divisional winners, who were the teams with the best record against divisional opponents, facing off in a championship game, the winner of that game was awarded the league’s championship.

NOTES: The PFL records on this page reflect PFL penalties imposed against Jacksonville (# - vacated 30 wins during the 2010-14 seasons) and San Diego (% - vacated 7 wins during the 2013 season). In accordance with NCAA policy, the wins and ties, but not the losses, of the penalized team are dropped from its PFL record only. The won-lost records for each of the opposing teams are not changed when games are vacated. In addition, the overall records for both teams were not changed.
