Cycle Training Factsheet

Would you like to encourage your staff to be fitter, greener and more productive? Book a cycle training session, Dr Bike session or cycle maintenance demonstration or course for your staff! There are so many benefits to cycling regularly in our daily lives: it’s cheap, healthy, reliable and benefits the environment. A workforce that cycles regularly is fitter, more productive and motivated (regular cyclists take 7.4 sick days per year, compared with 8.7 sick days for non-cyclists1). Cycling regularly also contributes to improving your business’s green credentials and public image.

Cycle Training

A surprising number of people for various reasons, have not cycled for a long time and find that they have lost their confidence when it comes to getting back on the saddle. If your staff would like to start cycling to work but aren’t sure where to start, taking part in a 1-2-1 cycle training session is ideal. This can help them to regain their confidence and get the skills needed to cycle to work on a regular basis. The training is tailored to suit all skill levels, from complete beginners to those looking to tackle a busy commuter route. 60% of cycle training participants go on to increase their levels of cycling2. Why not book an instructor for the day and help boost your workforce’s confidence in cycling to work?

Dr Bike Sessions

Broken brakes or a flat tyre? Give your bike a once over with a Dr Bike session! Experienced mechanics check everything on your bike from wheels, brakes and tyre pressure to lights, pedals and saddles. Advice will be offered on a range of issues such as finding the correct riding position on your bike and adjusting gears. Serious faults will be diagnosed for further attention. By the end of the session your bike will feel loved and cared for. Why not encourage your staff to give their bike a new lease of life by organising a Dr Bike session at your site?

Cycle Maintenance Demonstrations and Lunchtime Courses

Many people have a bike at home which has been languishing in the shed with a flat tyre or snapped brake cable and they never got round to taking it to a bike shop to be mended. By organising a cycle maintenance demonstration or lunchtime course at your site, you can introduce your staff to bike mechanics in a relaxed and supportive environment. These sessions will teach your staff a few maintenance tricks every cyclist should know. This is a great way to boost your staff’s confidence to recognise problems with their bike and to have the skills in fixing it themselves. These courses could also train a member of staff to deal with minor mechanicals, e.g. help other staff repair a puncture or maintain pool bikes.
