Freshman – Please see Mr. Kaas in room 2102 if you haven’t picked up your “Class of 2021” shirt. Back to School/Outdoor Dance – Kentlake and Kentwood are joining together for our first dance of the year! We will be hosting it here on Saturday, September 30th from 8-11pm! Tickets will go on sale today at lunch. $5 in advance from the cashier, $7 the night of the dance. ID is required to purchase a ticket and must be purchased with cash only. Proceeds from this dance will benefit the Pediatric Interim Care Center, PICC. Homecoming - Come to the Land of Oz for Homecoming 2017, on Saturday, October 14th from 8-11 p.m.! Tickets go on sale this coming Monday, October 2nd. Ticket prices are: Monday 10/2 – Friday 10/6 $15.00 w/ASB and $20.00 without Monday 10/9-Thursday 10/12 $20.00 w/ASB and $25.00 without Remember, there is no school on Friday, October 13th and tickets are not sold at the door. Plan ahead and get your tickets early!! All Kentlake students must be clear of fines and bring their Kentlake ID cards to the Cashier when purchasing tickets. Guest forms are required for all non-KL students; all guest’s tickets are the without ASB price. Class Fees – All class fees are now due! Students will have until this Wednesday, September 27th to pay their class fees. Unpaid fees after that date will become a fine. Fines will keep you from participating in Athletics, purchasing a parking permit and you will not be allowed to purchase Homecoming tickets. An updated fine list has been posted by the Cashier’s Office. It is your responsibility to check the list and clear any obligations. You will be able to make online payments until Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. After that, all fees will need to be paid in person at the Cashier’s office for proper credit. We greatly appreciate your efforts in taking care of your obligations.
Winter Cheer Tryouts - If you are interested in becoming a KLHS Cheerleader, tryouts for the winter cheer squad will be on October 19th. Tryout packets are available for pick up in the Athletic Office. An information meeting for cheerleaders and parents will on Monday October 2nd at 6:00-7:30pm in room 1508 across the hall from the auxiliary gym entrance. College Planning Night - Join us next Thursday, September 28th in the PAC at 6:30 pm to learn more information on how to afford college. Experts from the financial company AGP wealth investors will be discussing strategies parents can use as early as the 9th grade to help make college more affordable. There will be a Spanish speaker giving a presentation for this event as well. We encourage parents with students in all grades attend. French Club - French Club will have its first meeting on Thursday, September 28th in room 1523 after school. Any and all who share a love for all things French are welcome! Japanese Club - Join us for Japanese Club on Thursday, September 28th in room 1521! All students are welcome to learn about Japanese culture. Class of 2018 - SENIORS! Time to order your Class of 2018 shirts! Design and order forms are available in the Cashier’s Office. Orders are due by Thursday, September 28th at the end of lunches. Don’t miss out!! PSAT - After receiving valuable feedback from parents, the district has decided to offer the PSAT to all juniors. The test will be on Wednesday, October 11th at Kentlake during the school day. All 11th graders have been registered for the PSAT and will be required to test if they are on campus that day. Homecoming Dance Guest Pass – Homecoming is October 14th! If you are planning to bring a guest, a Guest Pass Application is required. You can find one in the Cashier’s Office or Activities Office. The deadline to submit your completed form for Administrator approval, is Tuesday, October 10th. All tickets must be purchased by 3:00 on Thursday, October 12th, you must bring your completed guest form with you to purchase tickets. Tickets will go on sale Monday, October 2nd! ASB Dinner and Auction - SAVE THE DATE!!! Join us for the 1st Annual ASB Dinner and Auction on Saturday October 21st in the Kentlake Commons. Tickets are only $10.00 each. ASB Club members and Athletes will be selling tickets, and their group will retain $5.00 per ticket sold. So come support your favorite ASB Club, Team or Activity! Tickets can be purchased beginning Tuesday, September 19th from participating students or the Cashier. (see attached flyer). Learning Lab - The learning lab is up and running. It will be open periods 3, 5 and 6 for your use. The learning lab is a place where you can come to work on assignments, get extra help, if you need to make up a test or you just need a quiet place to work. All are welcome. You must have a pass from your teacher and the work you intend to do. The learning lab is not just a place to hang. Who is manning the learning lab? Mrs. Wilson –3rd period Ms. Cyford – 5th period Mr. Raftis – 6th period World Language Assessments – Can you speak, read and write in a language other than English? You can earn up to 4 high school credits by taking the Stamp test. This is a free test for high schoolers offered by the district. The assessment test days are October 21st, February 3rd and March 31st and students must pre-register. Please check our school website and your school email for more information on the dates and how to register. SAT – This Fall Kent School District will NOT be hosting the SAT on school campuses. • Seniors who wanted to take the SAT at Kentlake, you will need to make alternate plans. • Registering for the SAT can be done by going to collegeboard.org. Don’t wait too long, testing sessions can fill quickly. Picture Retakes – Did you miss picture day? Retakes will take place on October 12th during lunch. Senior Celebration – Tickets for the “Senior Grad 2018 Celebration” are on sale during certain lunches. Stay tuned to the bulletin to find out which ones.
