  Earlier today I shared with you our new Corporate Affairs structure, including the new Global Public Policy and Government Affairs function. Effective Nov. 9, joining us to lead this team is Dan Bryant, Senior Vice President – Global Public Policy and Government Affairs. Based in Washington, D.C. and reporting to me, Dan will oversee both the Federal and International Government Affairs teams as well as all policy functions. His team will manage relationships with international stakeholders in the U.S., external stakeholders in international retail, sourcing markets and Global eCommerce; represent the company before members of the U.S. Congress, the White House and federal agencies; and stand up policy councils to drive Walmart’s global public policy strategy. Dan joins us from Covington & Burling, where he served for three years as a partner in the Washington, D.C. office and chair of the Global Public Policy and Government Affairs Practice Group. Previously, Dan served as Senior Vice President for Global Public Policy and Government Affairs at PepsiCo, where he was a member of the PepsiCo Executive Committee. There, he led the worldwide government affairs team and oversaw global public policy efforts, encompassing all policy and governmental issues impacting the company. Before joining PepsiCo, Dan served as Assistant Attorney General for Legal Policy and Assistant Attorney General for Legislative Affairs at the U.S. Department of Justice. He was responsible for planning and coordinating implementation of major legal policy initiatives and advising the Attorney General on legal and policy matters. Dan also served as Counselor to the Attorney General. Prior to the Justice Department, Dan was Majority Chief Counsel to the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Crime. Dan received his Bachelor and Juris Doctor degrees from American University, Washington, D.C., and his Master’s degree from Oxford University (Keble College), England. He also attended the University of Seville, Spain. Dan and his wife, Aerin, have four children, Caroline, Peter, Noah and Annie.
