Discover the Quad Cities like you have never seen it before. Your first stop is the American Pickers Store/Antique Archeology in LeClair, Iowa. Visit the two-story former fabrication shop that is home base for the American Pickers show on the History Channel. It houses some of Mike Wolf’s best picks, as he is the finder and rescuer of rusty gold. His passion is fueled by a soul-deep appreciation of American history, values, and stories. Mike Wolf is America’s curator, preserving what he finds for the rest of us to enjoy. The Buffalo Bill Museum is our next stop; Buffalo Bill was born in LeClair and the artifacts represent a portion of his life and river life, a 1939 Cris Craft Speed Boat, river pilots exhibit and much more. This evening is yours at leisure. Overnights: Isle Hotel, Bettendorf, IA This morning visit the John Deere Pavilion; it is all here, the machines, the history, the technology, and the innovations. A chance to see where agriculture, construction and forestry are heading in America and around the world. Visit the Deere-Wiman Home, built by John Deere’s son, Charles in 1872. The Deere-Wiman home has been home to four generations of Deere descendants until 1976. The home’s seven acres of formal gardens and walkways beckon guests to explore the lovely setting enjoyed by residents more than a century ago. Your senses will awaken when you visit the Quad City Botanical Center. Gardens include the tropical sun garden, scrambled alphabet garden, the greenhouse, perennial gardens, and the Pergola gardens. There is so much to see at the Quad City Botanical Center. As a special treat, attend a presentation of “chocolate and plants” where you will discover plants that produce the chocolate flavor. Enjoy lunch at the botanical center. Return to your hotel for a little “R & R” before a wonderful evening ahead. Board the Celebration Belle for a relaxing cruise on the Mississippi River with a prime rib dinner and entertainment. It will be a great way to end the day. This morning visit the Isabel Bloom Factory where you will see first-hand how they make their delightful figurines. Next stop, the Chocolate Manor where this locally owned chocolate maker uses only the finest quality ingredients and produces a fresh assortment of more than 100 delicious chocolates, including creams, truffles and mouthwatering toffees. Then, it is time to head home after a fun trip to the Quad Cities with Southeast Community College.
