Day Pack. Comfortable, adequate size, line with a strong plas c bag to keep contents dry Sturdy hiking boots, preferably waterproof Clothing, depending on expected condi ons (always take a li le extra) Hat, broad brimmed Waterproof Jacket Gaiters, depending on expected condi ons Hiking Poles, depending on expected condi ons Water bo le/s or bladder, durable with 2-3ltrs of water
Compass, oil filled Watch (analog is best as it can be used for naviga on) Sunscreen, water resistant SPF 30+ Insect repellant Sunglasses First aid kit* Survival kit** Compact torch (windup is a good idea) Pocket knife Whistle Notepad and pencil Toilet paper and towel
Food, including snacks and lunches. Always take a li le extra

Map, laminated or protected in map case
