Death & Life in Communion | November 25, 2012 | Aaron Weinzierl INTRODUCTION today we are going to receive communion which is one of the 3 ‘sacraments’ of the New Testament church. there are some in this room that are excited b/c they understand what communion is all about and there are others that just started to zone out - being not too excited to hear a message about communion before you judge this message and make your decision on your level of attentiveness give me some time to set it up and bring you an opportunity hear, act and receive a real benefit and blessing and if you aren’t able to give me much time let me open up with this verse & statements: 1. one of the reasons why people are sick with incurable disease and die early is because they don’t understand communion 2. one of the reasons why you will eventually end up with a disease and possibly die early is not understanding communion 1 Corinthians 11:29-31 29 For he that eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. 30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep (die early). 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

trans: right at the beginning here’s my 3 main points to why we are sick, weak and die prematurely by “not discerning the Lord’s body

let me start of by saying - participating in anything that you really don’t believe and act on is fraud why are people sick, weak and dying - b/c they aren’t discerning the meaning behind something they are observing

#1 - COMMUNION FRAUD not regarding repentance made possible by the blood #2 - COMMUNION FRAUD not regarding healing made possible by his body #3 - COMMUNION FRAUD in not regarding each other in the body of Christ

HISTORY what we now celebrate in the New Covenant as Communion is based on a portion of something the Jews celebrated before the time of Jesus for 1,500 years since they left the bondage of Egypt - this was called the Passover / Passover Feast notice the beauty of this salvation Original Passover: God’s people were in bondage to Egypt and he was using Moses to get Pharaoh to release them - He finally resorted to using plagues - the tenth and worst plague was the death angel which went over the homes and killed the first born of every family - you think God messes around with those that come against his kids when they obey Him? think again - the death angel would pass over any house that had blood spread over the doorpost - this was the blood of an unblemished lamb - think of the symbolism of an unspotted, perfect innocent lamb giving its life & blood for the family that night - keeping them safe from the death angel

Passover Feast / Feast of Unleavened Bread: after the passover event in Egypt the Jewish people continued to celebrate this event where they were set free from Egypt and saved from the angel of death when they left Egypt they left with gold and riches and every single one of them was perfectly healthy - zero disease how did slaves have riches and gold? god told the women and children to go door to door and tell the Egyptians they were to give their jewelry to them - haha in observing the command to smear the blood on the doorpost they were saved from the death angel AND malnourished slaves where stated as “not one feeble one among them”

Jesus’ Communion: the disciples knew it was time for the Feast of Unleavened Bread - so they asked Jesus if and where they should prepare for it they did and Jesus brought together His closest staff of 12 together for what would today be known as Communion One of the things I like about Jesus and can identify with is - His uncanny ability to ruffle feathers and bother religious spirits that were IN God’s people - he liked to push buttons to get people to think and notice their own state

normally in this story we think of how he shocked the disciples with his saying, “drink my blood, eat my flesh” I would like to look at another one of His ‘offensive acts’

UNLEAVENED / LEAVENED back when this tradition started in Egypt they used bread that was free of yeast - known as unleavened bread - this was flat bread that didn’t rise •

this was to signify something free of sin

after hundreds of years of celebrating this we know the religious leaders had everything all twisted around - Jesus knew this

they had clean robes, clean hands, couldn’t be bothered by the sick or dirty basically they had the persona of sinless, clean and perfect according to the law

they loved to fast in public to show how well they were living in their sin-free condition - they enjoyed being above the common people of the time

they kept the law perfectly - they had no need of repentance or the covering of blood thru the remission of sins

POINT: do you know that even today we have the same spirits going around tricking people into believing they are sinless and not needing of repentance back then: “we are Abraham’s seed & perfect according to the law now: “we have the blood of Jesus which has taken care of sin past, present and future - we don’t need repentance

CONTEXT - rembr we are talking about the purpose of communion - and properly ‘discerning the Lord’s body’ - why? so that we be not weak and sick and die young

MAIN POINT 1 - COMMUNION FRAUD - BLOOD pretending that you have no sin and therefore don’t need to repent is a slap in the face to what communion represents in the spilled blood of Jesus 1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. Jesus staff - who healed & delivered people - they had sin and problems not to be ignored

Thomas didn’t believe much

Peter had anger, rage and lying issues and even denied Jesus - lost his temper frequently - cut off a man’s ear with his sword

James and John had issues as grown men with a mother that couldn’t let them grow up - she’s bugging Jesus about getting her sons special seats in heaven

Judas did the works of God yet he had an evil spirit in him •

a chosen of God that ministered had an evil spirit? you don’t say?

and ALL of them eventually betrayed and denied him - Mark 14:50

Matthew 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. there’s something very interesting about the greek word here used for bread •

there’s a greek word for unleavened bread - but that word wasn’t used here

the word here is simply bread - and the root word means to raise up

Jesus offered his disciples bread that was raised - it had yeast in it - He broke the tradition

POINT: this is powerful - Jesus was eating with a group that He knew had sin in them - yet he was willing to eat with them and love them & die for them Matthew 26:27-28 27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink all of it; 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. •

drink all of it - every sin forgiven - every single one

blood was shed for the remission of sins - not for grace

repent - from Acts to Revelation 32 times talking to God’s people •

5 of 7 churches during our dispensation - Jesus said to them REPENT!

many have perverted the teaching of grace in a way that says what Jesus did on the cross took care of your sin: past, present and future - and because of this you’re free free to the point that to repent of sin would be an acknowledgement that I have sin and undoes the gift received by faith, which is the covering of Jesus’ blood. we can see this subtle attitude in the Pharisees of Jesus’ time that believed they were sinless and perfect according to the law - “the seed of Abraham”

they put on a good show but Jesus said “you are bleached coffins full of decomposing bodies

New Testament Definition of Grace has nothing to do with what many have taught here’s the Greek Usage: Grace: the merciful kindness by which God, exerting His holy influence upon the souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues POINT: if the grace you receive & teach isn’t guiding you and influencing your soul toward living Christ-like then you are - fallen from grace Galatians 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. - notice many read this and would say - the Grace does away with the law WRONG - the grace is the divine influence to live the way God wants us to live this would be seen as the fruit of the spirit - this would be against sin - the effect Christ is supst to have on you and His grace is to lead you to live according to the law that is written on your hearts as the Holy Spirit leads you and influences you - if you don’t live this way then you are ‘fallen from grace’ Galatians 5:13-15 13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!

lets fix - #1 - COMMUNION FRAUD regarding repentance made possible by the blood very simply allowing the gentle, loving tap on the shoulder from the Holy Spirit to lead you into holiness and repent for the things he shows you be careful - the spirit of accusation would love to bring charges against you and heap bondage on you - this sounds like a nagging broken record it brings up problems in your life - yet offers no solutions the gentle conviction of the Holy Spirit gives you answers and freedom conviction leaves when you set your heart to obey

accusation stays and nags no matter how much you repent or set your heart right

#2 - COMMUNION FRAUD regarding healing made possible by his body if you participate in communion and take the bread in remembrance of his broken body - yet deny that healing is for you today - you take a curse upon yourself 1 Corinthians 11:29 For he that eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body there are many today who will say that the blood of Jesus is for the forgiveness of sins and they have no problem repenting - but they cut off half of the meaning of communion by not accepting the broken body for the healing of our physical bodies

Isaiah 53:4-5 4 Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. both Jesus ministry & Peter referred and directly quoted this passage regarding physical healing of the human body and if you really want to get serious about sickness and disease you will understand that it is not a part of mankind b/c of the Fall in the garden - disease is not even mentioned as part of the curse SICKNESS & DISEASE & SYNDROMES & INCURABLE DISEASE - are either directly or indirectly as a result of sin which is very simply a separation on some level between you, God and others - GetWhole.org PLUG GETWHOLE - GW4.ME MAIN POINT 2 - COMMUNION FRAUD - BODY accepting the blood for forgiveness but denying the body for physical healing is a slap in the face to the two fold gift in what Jesus did - and that which Communion represents you can’t practice both sides of observing communion and then believe and teach that half of it is not for you - for this many are weak, sick and die prematurely I’m here to tell you today that just like Jesus said in Acts 10:38 *** How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him we are anointed, we do good, we heal all that the devil oppresses & God is with us

Death & Life in Communion | November 25, 2012 | Aaron Weinzierl trans: many people can accept the blood for forgiveness but have a hard time with the body & healing being for today - much of this is b/c we have based our beliefs on the lack of results we see translated: christians are sick and full of disease everywhere regardless of their stance on healing being for today or not

this brings us to our final point: #3 - COMMUNION FRAUD in not regarding each other in the body of Christ the heart of communion is in the body of Christ - which is the church - coming together as one flesh - together, reconciled to each other & accepting one another just like Jesus Himself accepted his disciples, in their current, sinful and imperfect state some would say - I can’t accept people in their sin - then you abide in death 1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loves not his brother abides in death.

POINT: when we properly discern and take communion properly we aren’t just remembering what Jesus did - we are actively aligning ourselves with the blood shed for forgiveness and the broken body for healing this celebration not only goes vertically - between you and God but also goes horizontally - between you and mankind 1 John 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

Communion in Greek means fellowship, intimacy, sharing - relationship

Communion not only involves us and God but also us and each other 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? 17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

PASSING OF THE ELEMENTS NOW

I saved the most important part of the service for this time - as the ushers do their job and I know they are fun to watch you will want to hone your attention skills

everything I’ve said in this message has been for the purpose of teaching you how NOT to partake or celebrate communion improperly - bringing a curse onto your physical body

we are not going to be fake like the leaders of Jesus’ time and deny that sin is an issue we are the chosen of God - His children - even in a leavened state God accepts you in the state you are in! our job is to set our heart against sin - and acknowledge to God when we mess up just like you want people to do to you when they hurt you

we are not going to deny the broken body of Jesus and its payment for the physical healing of our bodies

and here’s the biggest one - we are going to accept humanity that has hurt us, betrayed us, treated us poorly when we were helpless, talked behind our backs this is where forgiveness comes in Peter asked Jesus - 7 times a day? no 70 x 7 = 480 - wakeful 16hrs - 1:57 separate people from the evil they’ve done to you “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do” Jesus said - He wasn’t lying 1 Cor 2:8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. neither the Jews nor the Romans crucified Jesus - it was the same evil that works in humanity still today - working behind the scenes causing humans to hurt humans separate the evil people have done to you and forgive them - remit their sins against you - accept them as equally broken people

Unforgiveness & Bitterness is the cause of the majority of all disease - especially cancers and digestive disorders

take a moment to: •

affirm Jesus as your savior and Lord

acknowledge the sin in your life that comes to mind

repent to him and allow His blood to cleanse you

thank Him for giving his body to us for our physical healing

and make peace in your mind with that person that wronged you - they may be dead, they may be out of your life •

bitterness and unforgiveness drinks a cup of poison, hoping it will hurt the other person - this actually leads to toxicity and acidity in your physical body

as you release people healing will come

as we take the elements I want you to rembr Jesus offering the leavened bread to his sinning saints that day when He said

1 Corinthians 11:23b-26 23 Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as often as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death till he come.
