 Position Level Descriptor An individual at the Team Member level is accountable for their own performance and contributes to team performance. People at the Team Member level do not have any people reporting to them on a day to day basis

 Position Summary The Woorabinda Family Partnerships Program facilitates community led solutions to support positive family life. The service uses a variety of strategies within the Woorabinda community to:  Improve the wellbeing and safety of children, young people and their families.  Build the capacity of families to care for and protect their children  Prevent entry or re-entry of families we work with to the statutory child protection system. The service consists of centre-based and outreach activities through case management and support, and has effective links across the service system to ensure client needs are met. The Centre has been managed as a Red Cross program for over 3 years and is a primary community service in Woorabinda to meet the developmental needs of children. The Centre offers culturally appropriate activities with a focus on developing positive community engagement and effective parenting skills. The position will involve developing case plans and undertaking casework with families in Woorabinda. The Case Worker will also assist with developing and facilitating culturally safe and accepted programs at the Centre, on outreach and when undertaking community activities.

 Position Responsibilities Key Responsibilities  Providing and supporting casework to clients, including: Case planning, Developing referral pathways and resources, practical support for the building of client capacity, team case review  Working within budget as directed by the Senior Case worker and Service Manager.  Planning and implementing community activities that promote community cohesion and the wellbeing and safety of children and their families.  Safeguarding the wellbeing of clients who access the Family Partnerships Centre and Red Cross activities.  Working with Community and Elders to develop and implement program activities with a focus on parenting and family wellbeing.  Engaging with and supporting volunteers to increase the community engagement in Red Cross activities in Woorabinda.  Developing and distributing appropriate Information on the topics of child development, family wellbeing, cultural safety and domestic violence.  Position Selection Criteria Technical Competencies  Experience in working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities; and knowledge and experience of local cultural traditions, practices and support services  Experience in working in a team to achieve common goals.  Ability to use a client database and to run necessary reports for internal and external stakeholders  Superior communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to build rapport and establish positive and constructive relationships with clients, staff and other stakeholders including liaising with vulnerable 'at risk' families.  Demonstrated time management and organisation skills to ensure targets and team goals are met  Experience working with children/family programs or projects, with an ability to work with ‘at risk’ families.  Knowledge of casework principles and experience with casework services for vulnerable ‘at risk’ people.

Qualifications/Licenses  Tertiary qualification in youth, child or family services, social work, community services or human services and / or a related field is desirable.  Current drivers licence.  A Working with Children check is a mandatory requirement for this role.
