Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders Speech Pathology & Audiology Program Supporting Courses In addition to fulfilling GEF requirements, students in the SPA major are required to take one course in normal human development (3 credit hours) and two courses in abnormal human development (6 credit hours). Although the supporting courses are not a pre-SPA requirement, they are required for the SPA degree program. Therefore, pre-SPA students should consider enrolling in these courses after they have completed the GEF and pre-SPA requirements. Additionally, SPA students must complete a course +lab in Biological Science, a course in Physical Science, a Mathematics course, a Statistics course, a Computer Sciences course, and two courses in an Elementary (spoken) Foreign Language. Students should refer to the official list of GEF-approved courses, as some supporting area courses may fulfill GEF requirements.
