DIRECTOR OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS SUMMARY Implements, monitors, and evaluates marketing communications strategy, including content, advertising and media relations to support the marketing objectives. Supports strong community and client relationships and works to maximize positive exposure in identified markets. Has a strong understanding of the nuances of marketing professional services. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Functions effectively within a partnership structure and is adept at communicating effectively across all levels of the organization. Oversees Marketing Coordinator and is a part of the firm’s Management Team. Reports to the Marketing Committee. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES    

           

Adept at communicating effectively in both written and verbal formats to include writing/editing blog posts, email blasts and press releases as well as various speaking engagements/communication forums Ability to negotiate, build consensus and garner support Responsible for managing and engaging with firm vendors for comprehensive management of the marketing, communications and public relations program Develops an annual strategic marketing plan with specific goals, strategies, audience(s), tactics and measurement for effective positioning of the firm within the community and with current and potential new clients Develops annual marketing budget and proposes to Marketing Committee; effectively administers approved budget over the course of the fiscal year Oversees all marketing collateral and communications materials Builds and leverages relationships with the media and the community Oversees niche development and tactics Oversees firm website with focus on relevant and engaging content Ability to multi-task to include performing market research, planning and executing marketing campaigns and supporting launches of new service lines Develops internal communications plan to keep firm staff informed of marketing efforts Maintains awareness of firm’s competitors, markets, abilities and limitations and provides strategic recommendations to address changes in the environment Increases awareness and visibility of firm and staff; regularly solicits and publicizes new items (new clients, new staff, niche markets, etc.) Seeks out and coordinates speaking opportunities for firm personnel with a focus on building individual and firm credibility as thought leaders and experts Hosts and partners with other organizations to present events, seminars, etc. Provides coaching and training to assist and develop staff in their personal marketing

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree required Seven to ten years of experience in marketing, communications or public relations
