This can greatly decrease the efficiency of the unit, which will cost you more money. Flushing your hot water tank is a great way to remove the dirt and debris and make sure your hot water tank is running smoothly. 1. Turn off the electrical or gas on the water heater. 2. Turn off water from the inlet valve, which supplies water to the tank. 3. Attach a hose to the valve on the bottom of the tank, which will be the drain valve. Run the hose outside or into a bucket. (Be aware the water coming out will be VERY HOT!) 4. Turn on the tank’s pressure-release valve or turn on a warm water faucet inside the house. 5. If flushing sediment, open the water heater's drain valve and let about 4 gallons drain. 6. Close the drain valve, turn the water back on to supply the tank and allow the tank to fill back up with water, then turn the electrical / gas supply back on. » Tree Removal - Unfortunately, sometimes trees in your yard die or grow into structures and cause damage to foundations or power lines.
