Dear Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parishioners, As we begin 2018, I am pondering the miracle that is Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish. I am reflecting more deeply on our mission and ministry as disciples of Jesus Christ. Consider for a moment the staggering number of people who worship and celebrate the sacraments with us each weekend, the over 200 children who are baptized and the nearly 200 teens who are confirmed here each year. Ponder the number of hours spent by parishioners adoring Jesus Christ in our Adoration Chapel; the number of parishioners who proclaim the scriptures in word and song; the commitment of our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion who serve at mass as well as to the sick and homebound. Consider the thousands of lives touched by our outreach to the poor and marginalized at the Matthew 25 Center as well as the lives that have been vastly improved at our sister parish in Haiti by your efforts. Think about the children touched and educated through our parish school and religious education programs over the past 62 years and the effect those graduates make in our world today. I believe the foundation of these blessings is contemplation and prayer. Invoking the guidance of the Holy Spirit on our parish, God touches lives through you, his servants. Thank you! As we strive to be disciples, good stewardship is certainly a disciple’s response. It is not about paying bills; it is not about bank accounts and collections. Stewardship is about doing the work of Christ, engaging our abundant blessings to further the ministry and mission of Jesus Christ.

During this New Year, my prayer is that we continue to draw upon our successes while also focusing on evangelizing, telling others of the reason for our hope--Jesus Christ! Our goal is to become an even more welcoming parish to all who walk through our doors…to greet them as Christ greeted us in baptism.
Online Giving is not meant to replace the traditional Sunday offertory collection; it is meant to enhance it. It also gives you the opportunity to contribute to first and/ or second collections even if you are out of town, etc.
With this in mind, I invite you to help us further our mission to “Go Make Disciples.” Please review the contents of this brochure and prayerfully consider how you and your family can help Our Lady of Mt. Carmel continue the work of Christ. Our goal is a simple one: to substantially increase our Sunday offertory contributions in order to continue to reach more people by spreading the good news.

This coming Sunday is Commitment Sunday. We will ask you to prayerfully consider your financial commitment to the Church in 2018. As we increase our Sunday offertory, it is my hope that we will be able to continue to build God’s Kingdom at our parish and beyond!

Commitment Weekend will be held on January 20th and 21st. Enclosed is a Commitment Card to complete. We will have a special collection during Mass to collect your Commitment Card. The act of making a commitment is a covenant between you and God to support our parish mission to the best of your abilities for all that you have been blessed. Your new commitment should begin with the next Sunday’s offertory. If you are out of town or unable to attend Mass on Commitment Weekend, please complete the enclosed Commitment Card and return it to the parish office or in the collection when you return. Your Commitment, no matter the increase, will be kept completely confidential and will not be disclosed in any way. Thank you for your generous support of our parish!
