POST-CONFERENCE WORKSHOPS | THURSDAY, 29TH SEPTEMBER 2016 9:00AM – 12:00PM • WORKSHOP A

1:00PM – 4:00PM • WORKSHOP B

Behaviour change programs are crucial in breaking the cycle of domestic and family violence. By providing opportunities to develop healthy relationships, learn non-abusive behaviour and challenge ingrained thoughts and behaviours, we see drastic perpetrator reform. One of the challenges faced by facilitators of these programs is establishing an effective engagement process. This workshop will draw on 25 years’ experience of developing interventions to address offending behaviours whilst working with violent and dually diagnosed offenders. Attendees will learn: • Effective engagement strategies when working with DFV perpetrators • Practical applications to establish engagement and achieve successful outcomes • The Offence Mapping tool and how it can help offenders deal with shame, guilt and accepting responsibility

Given the limited resources possessed by family violence not-for-profit agencies, it is vital that organisations utilise their funding and resources efficiently to maximise capacity and capability. Amy Sanchez draws on international case studies from a career spanning over 25 years in building and strengthening family violence organisations. A nationally recognised expert in mission-based organisational development, Amy’s experience spans several unique organisations which she expanded and fortified. Attendees will learn: • How to utilise funding and strategic partnerships to drive organisational efficiency • Working with governance boards to achieve outcomes • Future planning and implementing strategies to maximise scalability • Developing optimal solutions that produce results in the domestic and family violence field for diverse organisations

Engaging perpetrators to deliver effective treatment outcomes
