Donview News January 26, 2018 School News Welcome back everyone and we hope 2018 is off to a good start for you and your family. Malak Awad, Faiq Faizy and Zainab Khan are excited for you to read our first newsletter of the year. We have lots going on at Donview. Mental Health at Donview -‐ Bell Let’s Talk is January 31 As you know Donview is a Health and Wellness Academy. We try to avail every opportunity for creating awareness regarding issues of physical and mental health. This year Mr. Lewis and Ms. Dorey took the lead and made our school a participant of the Bell Let’s Talk campaign. They established a wellness committee in which students arranged a display case about Mental Health. Students wrote a message that they wanted to share with the school about mental health which was put onto the front display case. Every student has given a positive message that has bought out a smile on everyone’s face! Boys Basketball On January the 16th, the Grade 7-‐8 Boys Basketball participated in a pre-‐season tournament at A.Y Jackson to prepare themselves for the exciting season that lies ahead. Overall the day went fairly well and the team concluded with a record of 2-‐2, finishing third in the tournament overall. Throughout every game, they tried their best and at the end of the day, lessons had been learned. After every game, MVP awards were given out and our MVPs were Faiq, Luca, Sihath, and Christain. Congratulations on your outstanding performances. This tournament was really essential to prepare for the season and brought the team closer together. The season opener is on January 31 at home. Go Dragons!
Spirit Days -‐ Super Council Donview’s Spirit Days are back and they are better then ever. This year, Mr. Ehrlich, Mr. Baker and Mrs. Guinane, along with the Super Council team, organized Donview’s Spirit Days. It started on January 18, with the student’s favourite, Pyjama Day. Students and teachers enjoyed the comfy, cozy day in the midst of winter. To get rid of the winter blues our wonderful team also organized a message/quote day. The initiative of these Spirit Days was a huge success. Students were joyful and relaxed, which in turn created a positive atmosphere. These fun themed-‐outfit days will be happening every Thursday all the way until March Break!
