ADALBERTO ("Bert") LOPEZ Brief Bio
Adalberto "Bert" Lopez is Manager of Government and Public Affairs for Atlantic City Electric, where he has over 30 years of service in a variety of roles. Bert holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Thomas Edison State College, with much of his course work taken at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. He also holds an Associates in Applied Science in Electronic Technology from Atlantic Community College and a Certification in Corporate Community Relations from Boston College. Bert is the producer and host of a weekly TV interview show; “Latino Motion with Bert Lopez”, which airs on NBC40. The show highlights issues impacting the local South Jersey Latino Community, while advancing the understanding of Latino cultural heritage and Latino contributions to our society. The show covers issues in education, healthcare, housing, employment, immigration and advocacy. Bert has a passion for community service. He is former President and founder of the Hispanic Alliance of Atlantic County. For 15 years under his leadership, the “Festival Latino Americano” promoted Latino cultural heritage and raised thousands of dollars in scholarships. He was the first Latino elected to the Atlantic City Board of Education and the first Latino to serve as President of that board. Bert was a past Chairman of the Atlantic/Cumberland Chapter of the American Red Cross. He has been a leader in behavioral health, with over 25 years of service including 10 years as chairman on the board of AtlantiCare Behavioral Health. Bert is on the board of the following organizations: AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, AtlantiCare Behavioral Health, chairman of the Government Affairs committee for the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce, past chairman of the Cumberland Economic Development Board, and chairman of the Cumberland/Salem Work Investment Board. Bert has received many awards and recognitions, including the “Hometown Hero” Award from the United Way and the Atlanticare Behavioral Health Special Service Award. He has been named “Citizen of the year” by the National Association of Social Workers. He has been honored by the Kiwanis club, the Lions club, Boys Scouts of America, Atlantic City Weekly, Puerto Rican Parades of Atlantic City and Cumberland Counties, the American Red Cross and many others for his service to the community. Bert has four children (Jennifer, AJ, Kayto and Adrian) and resides in Atlantic City with his partner Ivenny Pena.
