This is your guide to the very best of Authentic Barossa during this year’s Barossa Vintage Festival. The idea is simple - almost twenty of our Barossa Trust Mark holders have come together to offer a Trail of discovery through the Barossa. Pick and choose your Trail events from those featured here, locate them on the enclosed map and you’re off on your Barossa Trust Mark adventure! Be sure to check if you need to book your experience in advance – some Trail events are offered only once, while others are available throughout the Barossa Vintage Festival. Choose from masterclasses, hands-on experiences, behind the scenes tours, exclusive tastings of iconic Barossa wines – and more.

Trail Events

1. Apex Bakery: Behind the Scenes Tour

Location: 1 Elizabeth Street, Tanunda Dates: Wednesday 19 – Friday 21 April, between 8.30 and 2pm. Cost: Free Apex Bakery is honoured to be a part of the Barossa Trust Mark Trail during this year’s Barossa Vintage Festival. Visit us and mention the Trust Mark Trail to receive a traditional Silecian style pretzel and a mini tour through our bakery. This will include viewing of our 92 year old wood fired oven which we still use to this day.

2. Bethany Wines: Sunset Saunter

Location: 378 Bethany Road, Bethany Date: Friday 21 April, 4.30 – 10pm Cost: $85 per head including tour, sunset dining & music Tickets: barossavintagefestival.com.au Join the Schrapel family for an evening immersed in the unique and picturesque site of Bethany. Start your journey in the vineyard for a lively conversation, a touch of nostalgia and a taste of the wines picked from these historic vineyards. Finish your saunter with an exclusive tasting of museum release 1992, 2002 and 2012 Bethany Shiraz. Settle in for the evening at the picturesque Cellar Door, get your groove on and enjoy a glass of Bethany wine matched with a delicious menu of regional produce.

3. Chateau Tanunda: Experience 100 Year Old Vines

Location: 9 Basedow Road, Tanunda Dates: Friday 21 & Saturday 22 April, 10am to 5pm Cost: Free Visit the Chateau Tanunda Cellar Door and experience the 2014 vintage of our 100 Year Old Vines Shiraz, awarded the Barossa Trust Mark in 2015, as well as wines from our coveted 50 Year Old Vines series. Visit our historic Chateau, take in the beautiful grounds including cricket pitch, Barossa Ranges terrace and Croquet lawn. Learn about our 125 years of Barossa winemaking history with a tasting or tour at cellar door.

4. The Dairyman Barossa: Farm Tour

Location: 346 Tweedies Gully Road, Lyndoch Date: Wednesday 19 – Friday 21 April, 2.30pm (2 hours) Cost: $55 per person includes tasting plate, glass of wine and tour Bookings: Essential via www.thedairyman.com.au Share the story and flavours of a child’s dream to be a farmer. Michael has revived mixed farming where farming was about growing food and producing meat, milk and fibre, all on one property. At 23 Michael had his own Jersey herd, 36 years on all farm products hold a Barossa Trust Mark. You will taste them and experience the story. Feed free range heritage pigs and bring the cows home for milking.

5. Gibson: (Feel the) ‘Years of Toil’

Location: Willows Road, Light Pass Date: Thursday 20 April at 11am Cost: $ 120 - Redeemable on purchases Bookings: Essential. Ph. 08 8562 4224 Inspect the very old vines and enjoy an exclusive barrel tasting of 2016 Australian Old Vine Barossa Shiraz wine and feel the charm of the 1850’s ‘Mud Room’ at Gibsons’s over wood fired pizza and 2006 Australian Old Vine Collection Barossa Shiraz with winegrower and winemaker, Rob Gibson.

6. Henschke: Exclusive Hill of Grace Tasting

Location: 1428 Keyneton Road, Keyneton Dates: Wednesday 19 – Friday 21 April, 9am to 4.30pm Cost: Free Visit our cellar door from Wednesday to Friday of the 2017 Vintage Festival and enjoy a private tasting of our 2010 Hill of Grace, an original pathfinder of the Barossa Trust Mark. From low-yielding, un-grafted shiraz vines planted in the 1860s by ancestor Nicolaus Stanitzki, this wine was first produced as a single-vineyard shiraz in 1958 by fourth-generation Cyril Henschke.

7. Jacobs Creek: ‘Our Table’ Lunch and Cooking Demonstration

Location: 2141 Barossa Valley Way, Rowland Flat Date: Sunday 23 April 2017 Bookings: Essential. Ph.08 8521 3000 jacobscreek.com/au/visit-us/ Cost: $150 Join us for an interactive cooking demonstration as we walk through our food history, re-creating period dishes from the 1840s through to today. Recipes have been hand selected direct from the Jacob’s family diaries and journals. Enjoy your lunch with Jacobs Creek wines.

8. Kellermeister Wines: Chill Zone

Location: Barossa Valley Way, Lyndoch Dates: Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 April Cost: Free entry. Food and wine available for purchase. Chill out and help us celebrate  the end of another successful Barossa vintage. Tuck into some delicious  flame grilled  Argentinian street food by Chimichurri Grill accompanied by one of our awardwinning wines, a  crisp  apple cider or a  refreshing  pale ale on tap, whilst relaxing to the soothing sounds of jazz on our lawns complete with stunning views over the Barossa Ranges! We look forward to toasting Vintage ‘17 with you!

9. Langmeil Wines: Valley Floor Shiraz Experience

Location: Corner Langmeil and Para Roads, Tanunda Dates: Thursday 20 and Friday 21 April. 11am Cost: $30 per person, maximum 12 people per session Bookings: Essential. 10. Murray Street Vineyards: Barossa Trust Mark Experience

Location: Murray Street, Greenock Dates: Wednesday 19 – Friday 21 April, 10am to 5.30pm Cost: Free entry; platters $25 per head; wines by the glass from $8 The complete Barossa Trust Mark experience is here at Murray Street Vineyards. Enjoy a tasting amongst beautiful gardens and old winery buildings overlooking our Greenock Vineyard – our tasting experience holds a Barossa Trust Mark in its own right. Try current and back vintages of our Barossa Trust Marked GSM blend ‘The Barossa’ and graze on platters showcasing the produce of other Barossa Trust Mark recipients.

11. Pindarie: Discover the Western Ridge

Location: Rosedale Road, Gomersal Dates: Wednesday 19 April – Sunday 23 April Cost: Free (no tasting fee) Food and beverages available for purchase A winner of multiple tourism awards, Pindarie Cellar Door offers a genuine paddock to plate experience. Tastings of the full range of estate grown wines are complemented by the 180-degree view of Pindarie’s vineyards from where the wines are originally sourced. It is a place to relax and enjoy platters of local produce or gourmet pies.

12. Poonawatta: 1880 Shiraz Tasting

Location: Taste Eden Valley Cellar Door, 6 – 8 Washington St Angaston Dates: Wednesday 19 April – Sunday 23rd April ‘Meet the Producer’ Wednesday 19th April 11am – 2pm Cost: $5 tasting fee, redeemable on purchase. Bookings: Appreciated. Ph. 08 8564 2435 tasteedenvalley.com.au Poonawatta rarely open this wine for tasting but have kindly offered it for a special celebration over the Barossa Vintage Festival, in partnership with Taste Eden Valley. Come and experience the Poonawatta wine range including the 1880 Shiraz any day during the festival, or join us for a special ‘Meet the Producer’ session on Wednesday 19th April.

13. Rockford Wines: Basket Press Shiraz Tastings

Location: 131 Krondorf Road, Krondorf Dates: Wednesday 19 April – Sunday 23 April Cost: Free (no tasting fee) Bookings: Required for groups over eight. Ph. 08 8563 2720 Rockford Basket Press Shiraz encapsulates traditional and contemporary winemaking philosophies and embraces the inherent qualities of old vine Shiraz. making it the quintessential hand-made wine. During the Barossa Vintage Festival, we will have the current release 2013 Basket Press Shiraz available for tasting and sales in our historic cellar door; we invite you to join us.

14. Seppeltsfield: Centenary Tour

Location: Seppeltsfield Road, Seppeltsfield Dates: Wednesday 19 April – Sunday 23 April, 10.30am and 1pm Cost: $125 per person Bookings: Essential. Ph. 08 8568 6200 Visit the Seppelt family homestead, followed by a private tasting of super premium fortified wines. The tour culminates in the 1878 Centennial Cellar, where you will taste your birth year Tawny (direct from barrel) as well as the legendary 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny.

15. St Hallett: Shiraz Blending Experience

Location: St Hallett Road, Tanunda Dates: Wednesday 19 April – Sunday 23 April Cost: $50 per person Bookings: Essential. Email [email protected] Set up shop in the old wine makers’ office as you learn about the art of blending Shiraz. The Barossa Trust Mark awarded Old Block Shiraz will give you inspiration as you look at distinct Barossa and Eden Valley Shiraz and craft your own unique blend.

16. Thorn Clarke Wines: William Randell Shiraz Past & Present Location: 266 Gawler Park Road, Angaston Dates: Wednesday 19 April – Sunday 23 April Mon to Fri 9am – 5pm, Sat & Sun 11am – 4pm Cost: Free

Visit our Cellar Door to taste your way through the 2010, 2012 and the recently released 2014 William Randell Shiraz each day of the Vintage Festival. Only produced in very small volumes and from the best vintages, this is a chance to taste three outstanding wines – recipients of numerous industry accolades.

17. Torbreck: RunRig Shiraz Viognier Tasting

Location: 348 Roennfeldt Road, Marananga Dates: Wednesday 19 April – Sunday 23 April, 10am to 5pm Cost: $5 Tasting fee (to taste the entire Torbreck range) Experience Runrig at the new Torbreck cellar door. Visit the newly renovated Torbreck Cellar Door any day during the vintage festival and taste the current release of RunRig, awarded the Barossa Trust Mark in 2015.

18. Turkey Flat Vineyards: Cellar Door Experience

Location: 67 Bethany Road, Tanunda Dates: Wednesday 19 April – Sunday 23 April, 11am to 5pm (closed Saturday 22 April) Cost: Free (no tasting fee). Bookings: Required for groups. Ph. 08 8563 2851 Immerse yourself in the quintessential Barossa scene – historic cellar door, majestic gums & picnic grounds amongst the vines. The perfect space to sip, relax and discover the Barossa Trust Mark awarded Turkey Flat Shiraz – with rare large formats and museum releases open for tasting throughout the Barossa Vintage Festival.
