Bright Teachers Focus on Students

~ An approach to Learner-Centred Teaching~ 26th April 2018

As teachers, we all want our students to be as independent as possible. But how can we help them understand and remember as much language input as possible and become independent learners at the same time? Let us guide you through some strategies to help you put your students in the centre of the teaching/learning experience and help them acquire a sense of ownership regarding their learning process.

Programme 9:30 – 10:15 Student-Centred Learning vs Teacher-Centred Learning Have you ever thought of the teaching type you practice? What strategies do you apply? Do you guide your students every step of the way or do you allow them to discover and internalize new input on their own? Together, we will analyse the two teaching styles but also the features of student- centred teachers and activities. 10:15 – 10:45: Tea Break 10:45 – 11: 30 Integrating DT in our teaching goals After the break we will go through some of the PROs and CONs of each of the two teaching styles but also some tips on how to design a student-centred lesson. We will go further into discussing the benefits of such lessons and we will exemplify it all with activities that focus on the students to help you in lessons to come.
