Call for Artists - STAMP:Castell02, Caernarfon Following the first successful Castell01 in 2016, STAMP Caernarfon is inviting artists to send in their proposals for site-specific artworks and artistic interventions for STAMP Castell02 in and around Caernarfon Castle and the Town Walls as part of Ideas People Places. STAMP:Castell02 will run from Friday 12th – Sunday 14th May, 2017 and the artworks will be shown in and around the Castle for this duration. The event coincides with Caernarfon's second Food Festival, which takes place on the same weekend. Up to 12 artworks will be selected, which respond to Caernarfon Castle its Town Walls and the heritage and culture of the town, offering new ways of engaging and looking at its architecture and histories. We encourage all forms of proposals including sculpture, sound and light installations, performance and digital works. Artists will need to recognise and ensure that their work will not have any adverse impact on the World Heritage Site and have no political connotations. There will also be a requirement to operate within relevant CADW policies and procedures. The successful artists will be given a fee of £500 up to £1,000 to cover their costs, including materials but not installation. There will be a separate installation budget. In order to give interested applicants a chance to learn more about the project, see the Castle, view potential locations, and discuss thematic ideas. There are five scheduled tours with the STAMP Castell02 team:   

2pm and 3.30pm on Wednesday 15th March; 10am and 11.30am on Saturday 18th March; 2pm and 3.30pm on Sunday 19th March.

Artists MUST attend one of the Open Days to be considered for inclusion in Castell02. Please contact the team if you are unable to attend one of the dates but interested in submitting a proposal. The deadline for applications is Monday 3 April 2017, 12 noon. General information STAMP:Caernarfon background Ideas, People, Places (IPP):STAMP Caernarfon is a programme where the continuing regeneration of Caernarfon is to be achieved through meaningful community involvement, participation and dialogue. It is a project led by Cyngor Gwynedd in partnership with Galeri and Cadw, Communities First funded by the Arts Council of Wales. IPP STAMP:Caernarfon activities also work in tandem with the Caernarfon Waterfront Regeneration Partnership activities.

About the Caernarfon Food Festival The second Festival will be run between the evening of Friday 12th and Saturday May 13th, 2016. 10,000 people attended the first festival in 2016. The festival will be widely spread over different parts of Caernarfon town and will be a paradise to food lovers, with live cooking demonstrations, as well as a number of stalls, which will offer food and drink for you to try and buy, as well as fun activities and entertainment for the whole family.
