For Immediate Release Crown Group Reveals Public Art for Sydney Australian art studio creating illuminated sculpture for new laneway (Sydney, Australia) Wednesday February 14, 2018 – Crown Group, the award-winning developer of distinctive residential and commercial properties across Australia, today revealed the plans for Reflect, a stunning new illuminated public art piece at Arc by Crown Group, a luxury 22-storey residential tower being built at 161-165 Clarence Street in Sydney’s CBD. Reflect will be created by Ramus Illumination, an award-winning collaborative design studio based in Melbourne. Reflect will be an illuminated sculpture that is suspended across a new laneway connecting Kent and Clarence streets. The sculpture stretches 12 metres across the atrium from the third to the eighth levels, with a shifting shape inspired by the murmuration of birds and the daily patterns of people as they journey to and from the city. The artwork is comprised of a steel frame, stainless wires and thousands of LED lights. The form itself is reflective of a path of flight through the air, and the subtly shifting palette of colour and movement in the lights brings an ever-changing energy and life to the atrium sky space. “Reflect challenges convention and will be an exciting addition to Sydney’s public art collection, one that would reflect the modern city of Sydney,” Iwan Sunito, Group CEO and Chairman of Crown Group said. “We are excited to see this artwork take its place in Sydney’s newest laneway; at Arc by Crown Group.” “The purpose of our work is to reflect the quality of light in all people through the buildings and public spaces of our cities,” said Founder Ramus Illumination Bruce Ramus. “Reflect shifts according to your perspective beneath it. The illumination reflects the urban rhythms of the community below – adding light and subtle movement.” “Arc by Crown Group reflects the past and the future of Sydney in its heritage-inspired brick podium and contemporary glass tower above,” says Koichi Takada, Principal Koichi Takada Architects and designer of Arc by Crown Group, describing the 8-storey atrium that is the palette for the illuminating work of art. “Reflect will welcome and highlight the arrival experience into Arc by Crown. The twisting artwork under the mirrored ceiling, reflects the activity below - an experience that will be a popular Instagram moment.” Takada’s iconic design for Arc by Crown Group is exciting, innovative and unique and is destined to set a new benchmark for architectural design in the western skyline of Sydney’s CBD. The design incorporates a through-site pedestrian walkway forming a new laneway between Clarence and Kent streets, heritageinspired archways on lower levels and a modern glass-and-steel tower rising 22 storeys above street level, with an elegant curved steel roof structure that adds a sculptural shape to the skyline. Crown Group, with this project, has achieved a wonderful balance between creating an awe-inspiring structure that will be a feature of the Sydney skyline with a street level aspect and function that embraces and enhances the environment in which it is built. The site provides a unique canvas for embracing the heritage-inspired brickwork of Sydney’s past with the contemporary design that Sydney and Crown Group

have become known for. The design encourages both natural and recessed lighting to flood through all aspects of the building allowing the sheer beauty of the architecture to come to life at any stage of the day. When completed in mid-2018, Arc by Crown Group will offer 220 studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments built to the highest luxury standards and with the intuitive and thoughtful amenities for which Crown Group is renowned.
