Health IT Innovation in Care Delivery Transformation, Payment Reform, and Population Health Management

Main Auditorium The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation will lead a discussion on health care IT innovation and transformation approaches as they relate to care delivery, new payment models, and population health. The discussion will focus on how health care organizations and states are transforming into highly functioning, health IT-enabled practices that can coordinate patient care across the medical neighborhood, engage patients in their care, and manage populations to improve health outcomes. Panelists representing innovative models such as Accountable Care Organizations, the Comprehensive Primary Care Initiative, State Innovation Models, and other programs at the state level will discuss challenges and successes in their implementation of these CMS initiatives, as well as share their experiences and explore how other states and communities can learn from, iterate on, and build upon their roadmap for transforming health care.

Trends in Health Information Exchange Organizational Staffing

Main Auditorium The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) will discuss findings from their report Trends in Health Information Exchange (HIE) Organizational Staffing, an environmental scan of various staffing models for HIEs, released in early 2013. The panel will discuss the collaborative workgroup that led to this report, and will review various staffing models for HIEs, including trends in staffing needs, common challenges, and recommendations for HIE organizations.
