o many colors, so many choices! Finding that perfect room color may at first seem incredibly challenging. But with a little patience, some perseverance—and a few tips from an expert—you can create the room of your dreams. “Changing a room color can become overwhelming,” said Monica Pedersen, interior designer, lifestyle expert and TV host. “You’ve been looking at it in one color for a long time, and then imagining it finished and different is hard.” But Pedersen isn’t one to shy away from a challenge. An expert when it comes to transforming spaces (often on a tight budget), she estimates that she has selected 300 paint colors throughout her time on HGTV’s Designed to Sell. She offers several tips and tricks for adding a splash of paint to your space, whether you’re changing a room’s color or adding an accent wall.

LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE When sampling a paint color at home, a little doesn’t always go a long way. This will help you see how the color goes with the things that you already know and love. n

ALL ABOUT ACCENT WALLS If you’re painting only one wall a different color, choose a focal point. Pedersen thinks accent treatments are most effective on the following wall spots: bathroom mirror area, living room fireplace and bedroom headboard. Keep in mind you don’t want to introduce one super-dark wall behind your bed and keep everything else white. “Make sure that that (accent) wall color tonally has a good relationship to the

THINK ABOUT COLORS Neutral colors in richer tones are trending. Pedersen considers Benjamin Moore’s 2017 Color of the Year, Shadow, a neutral thanks to its gray and brown tones. She also likes Sherwin-Williams’ 2017 Color of the Year, Poised Taupe, as a complement to the trends she’s seeing in flooring. “A lot of floors are going

lighter,” Pedersen said, noting that she aims to keep the color value of walls and floors similar. “If I have a lighter oak or gray-washed floor, I would never choose a darker color for the walls,” she said. Think about items you have that reflect your personal style and your preferences. If you have something—a shirt, plate or vase, for example—most paint stores can scan and match it with a high degree of accuracy.

2017 CHEVY OWNER MAGAZINE ISSUE 8

GETTING STARTED First, understand why you’re looking to take on this painting project and acknowledge how much can be changed. Pedersen said living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens and great rooms can pose a challenge because these rooms often flow from one to the next. If you’re simply hoping to introduce a color, Pedersen recommends adding new accessories and artwork. But if you’re determined to refresh the walls, it’s time to start doing your homework on possible color choices.

Still not ready to commit to the whole wall or room? Here’s how you can try a paint color on for size:

(main) wall color,” Pedersen said. A simple way to achieve this is by staying within the same color family on the paint chip sample sheet. The combinations are as vital as any single color choice. Picking a paint for the trim that complements the walls can make a huge difference.

Sharon Gauci, director of Global Color & Trim Design.

Pick of the Palette nn That eye-catching new color you see on a Chevrolet vehicle today started at Chevrolet Color & Trim Design, where a team studies everything from architecture to fashion, nature, culture and general societal trends. “When designing color for automotive applications, we are always conscious of the type of vehicle, its size and shape,” said Sharon Gauci, director of Global Color & Trim Design. “The colors and palettes need to be appropriate—from a Spark to a Malibu to a Silverado to a Corvette.” Just like people, every car, truck and SUV has a distinct personality. “Color is a powerful communicator,” Gauci said. “The palette overall needs to be balanced to make sure we have the right mix of color appeal. “For example, some of the brighter colors on Camaro or Corvette we would not put on a Malibu. This is like a wardrobe and understanding who’s going to wear it.” Exhaustive research and testing goes into developing the colors. The naming process is just as involved. “There can be as little as 5 or as many as 50 ideas for each name,” Gauci said. “Every color has its own personality. It’s like naming a child.”

Developing colors for a brand-new, groundbreaking product, like the 2017 Bolt EV, is especially exciting. Brighter and lighter interiors with higher contrast to focus on vehicle technology, matching that of familiar consumer electronics, were developed.

“Every color has its own personality. It’s like naming a child.” The exterior features a graphically strong package with high-gloss black accents to contrast the exterior palette. “We carefully designed colors that would bring the same technical feeling to the Bolt EV, such as Kinetic Blue Metallic, and designed colors such as Orange Burst Metallic to reminisce the concept vehicle color,” Gauci said. “We tied the interior and exterior together with tints of a hue in the same direction or a punch of brightness to contrast with the glossy grille plate.” Learn more about the Bolt EV and see its colors at Chevrolet.com/BoltEV

CHIRICAHUA NATIONAL MONUMENT—WILLCOX, ARIZONA One of the most violent events in Earth’s history created this spot. About 27 million years ago, a massive supervolcano erupted with a force about 1,000 times greater than the Mount St. Helens eruption in 1980. Over time, the cooled lava eroded into the spectacular rock formations that make up the monument. Wildlife is abundant, with black bear, mountain lion, bobcat, grey fox and coatimundi often visible. Chiricahua is an Opata Nation word for “wild turkey,” which have been reintroduced.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ◊ The original indigenous name for the tower was Bear Lodge. ◊ The name Devils Tower came from a misunderstanding. The name was misinterpreted on

an expedition to mean Bad God’s Tower, which was later shortened to Devils Tower. ◊ NPS.gov/DETO WHY YOU NEED TO GO ◊ It’s well known from movies and television. ◊ It has great spiritual significance to Plains Indians and other Native Americans. ◊ Other popular activities include camping and hiking.

DEVILS TOWER NATIONAL MONUMENT—DEVILS TOWER, WYOMING Jutting nearly 1,300 feet above the prairie grasslands, this monolith is considered one of the most visually stunning of America’s natural wonders. Devils Tower was designated in 1906 as the nation’s first national monument by President Theodore Roosevelt. Situated in the northwest corner of the Black Hills, the rock tower holds great spiritual and physical meaning for Native Americans who have lived in the area for thousands of years. How Devils Tower was formed over 50 million years ago is uncertain; one theory suggests that it is the remains of a volcano whose outer formation has eroded over many years. The remaining rock displays hundreds of parallel cracks splitting it into huge geometric columns. The cracks—some only wide enough to fit a few fingers, with others able to hold a person (and the longest nearly 400 feet high)—make it one of the finest traditional crack-climbing areas in North America. WHITE SANDS NATIONAL MONUMENT—WHITE SANDS, NEW MEXICO Established in 1933 and home to the world’s largest gypsum (a soft mineral) sand dunes, White Sands National Monument is one of the nation’s most popular monuments because of its unique nature. The White Sands Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, encompasses the visitor center and seven buildings. The structures reflect the Pueblo Revival architectural style, fashioned after pueblo villages and the Spanish missions built during New Mexico’s early statehood. Just 65 miles to the north, on White Sands Missile Range, you’ll find the Trinity Site, where the first atomic bomb was tested in 1945.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ◊ Gypsum (the substance that makes up drywall) gives the dunes their white color. ◊ It’s the largest gypsum dune field in the world. ◊ NPS.gov/WHSA WHY YOU NEED TO GO ◊ Gypsum remains cool to the touch, so even during the hottest summer days, you can walk barefoot on the dunes. ◊ You can sled on the dunes like snow.

JOHN DAY FOSSIL BEDS NATIONAL MONUMENT—MITCHELL, OREGON This monument is nominally named after early 19th-century pioneer John Day, who ironically never found a fossil or even traveled within 100 miles of the monument. Instead, it is actually the nearby river bearing his name that gives this monument its name.

Encompassing three different and distinct units—Painted Hills, Clarno and Sheep Rock—where the Thomas Condon Paleontology Center is located, the monument is home to hundreds of fossil sites where scientists have found over 750 species of plants and animals. The multicolored rock strata of Painted Hills has to be seen to be believed. n

WHY YOU NEED TO GO ◊ Early horses, rhinoceroses, canids and over 30 other mammalian families entombed in volcanic sediments are found in the John Day basin. ◊ The sheer number of enticing sights and destinations nearby adds to the allure of visiting this monument.

FORT PULASKI NATIONAL MONUMENT— SAVANNAH, GEORGIA

This site honors the life and legacy of one of the most influential figures of the 20th century. Located on 105 acres 30 miles southeast of Bakersfield, it includes the historic property Nuestra Señora Reina de la Paz (Our Lady Queen of Peace), or “La Paz.” César Chávez became “a revered leader, not only to his fellow Latino Americans, but also for others in the civil rights and labor movements,” said Ruben Andrade, superintendent of César E. Chávez National Monument. “Efforts to help improve farm workers’ lives led by Chávez resulted in the formation of a labor union that eventually became the United Farm Workers of America,” Andrade said. Attractions include a visitor center with exhibits, a video presentation and a memorial garden.

Named for Casimir Pulaski, a Polish soldier who fought with colonists during the American Revolution, Fort Pulaski National Monument is at the mouth of the Savannah River, near Tybee Island. Visitors can tour the fort and enjoy vivid living history and artillery demonstrations. The monument, however, offers much more. “We have over 5,000 acres of pristine saltwater marsh, one of the largest concentrations along the coast of Georgia, making it a beautiful place to visit whether you like history or nature,” said Joel Cadoff, Chief of Interpretation and Education. Fort Pulaski also became one of the southernmost points on the Underground Railroad when the Union Army granted slaves held on Cockspur Island their freedom.

In addition to providing context to the multitude of forces both political and technological that created the competition for empire during the colonial era, Castillo de San Marcos also is an enduring legacy of the craftsmanship and skill of the engineers, artisans and laborers who built it. ◊ For more information, please visit NPS.gov/CASA

Named after James McHenry, a physician, soldier and politician who served the government in the early 19th century, Fort McHenry’s momentous event was surviving a British bombardment on Sept. 13-14, 1814. Moreover, Francis Scott Key, a poet and lawyer and an eyewitness to the 25-hour bombardment, was inspired to write his poem, “Defence of Fort M’Henry.” Set to music and renamed “The Star-Spangled Banner,” it became the U.S. national anthem in 1931. Rarely does a car come along that brilliantly combines performance and style like the Chevy Camaro. Yet what elevates Camaro is its ability to excel across the board.

By JOHN PEARLEY HUFFMAN Photographs by ANDREW TRAHAN

While legendary successes like the RS, SS and ZL1 equipment packages are the rock stars of the Camaro world, it’s the supporting players that lay the groundwork for those achievements. The standard-equipment models, with styling restraint that accents the car’s fundamental attractiveness, are engaging to drive and start at a lower price. Plus, in the Gen Six Camaro, the 2.0L turbo and 3.6L V6 engines offer unprecedented levels for a Camaro of performance, fun and refinement.

THE RIGHT COMBINATION Stepping up to the available 335-horsepower 3.6L V6 equips Camaro with a high-tech engine that delivers excellent performance. Fact: Today’s Camaro V6 offers more horsepower than any V8 Camaro that Chevrolet built from 1973 to 2002. In everyday duties, the 3.6L V6 is serene, delivering effortless acceleration. On the open road, its spirit comes alive with a full-throttle surge of power and spine-tingling Driving Modes growl. REFINED, MORE NIMBLE The Gen Six Camaro platform was conceived with both vehicle stiffness and reduced weight in mind, smartly engineered to be precisely as strong as necessary. For this reason, the Gen Six Camaro structure is, by far, the most advanced and refined in the car’s long and storied history. That structure is also the basis for the supple and refined suspension in every 2017 Camaro, engineered to optimize roadholding and passenger comfort. Ride and handling

MANUAL OR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION The knack for matching Camaro with its driver is also apparent in transmission choices. For those who prefer the control of shifting for themselves, there’s a slick-shifting 6-speed manual as standard equipment. Still, drivers who choose the optional 8-speed automatic transmission will be giving up little aside from a clutch pedal when they choose the available paddle-shift controls. The automatic’s gear ratios have been tailored to Camaro, helping to provide eager response, relaxed cruising and impressive gas mileage.

are refined and sharp whether the Camaro in question is powered by the 2.0L turbo, the V6, the 6.2L V8 in the SS or the beastly 650-horsepower supercharged V8 in the ZL1. The new, track-focused ZL1 1LE takes handling to another level with racing-based suspension and aero technologies. Throughout the lineup, materials were chosen to help Camaro stay trim. For instance, the beam supporting the instrument panel is aluminum, as are parts of the front suspension; clever innovations like an aluminum hood help achieve significant weight savings. The smart engineering pays off by improving acceleration and handling, helping to optimize braking distance and efficiency. LEAN AND MEAN The Camaro makes a bold statement about the person behind the wheel. It’s an extraordinary sports car, offering variations that can help make it attainable for almost everyone. Each has an interior with an optimized driver’s environment and comfort for passengers. Camaro is a car with a soul that struts and prowls. Which engine is providing the power affects only the length of its strides and the strength of its leaps. n

ATTRACTIONS PLUS OUTDOOR FUN The renowned Aquarium of the Pacific and the historic Queen Mary Hotel are the twin pillars of Long Beach. But there’s far more to Long Beach than these two well-known attractions. You can walk, jog or bike along the scenic 3.1-mile waterfront. Or rent kayaks, take windsurfing lessons or cruise the canals of nearby Naples Island on a gondola. Biking is especially popular, thanks in part to the Long Beach Bike Share program, which gives users the option of renting a bike on an hourly basis or purchasing a monthly membership. You also can enjoy a variety of ethnically diverse cuisine on 2nd Street, the quaint community’s main drag that boasts 14 blocks of shops, bars and outdoor eateries.

Today, Belmont Shore remains hip and trendy, and a vibrant village—one that’s much the same now as it was some nine decades ago—for locals and visitors alike. Mike Sheldrake, owner of Polly’s Gourmet Coffee and president of the Belmont Shore Business Association, said, “One of the things that sets Belmont Shore apart from other beach neighborhoods is that it’s a real community. “People get to know each other, and whether you’re new to the area or a local, we welcome and get to know everyone, which really makes it a unique place.”

SUMMER IN THE CITY: The Best of Urban Beaches Around the U.S.

TRADITION AND PROGRESS ARE COMPATIBLE HERE Saint & Second, for example, is a comparatively new restaurant, but has its roots in three generations of a family that has fed locals and visitors for more than 60 years. “The neighborhood,” said Saint & Second manager Ray Gonzalez, “is such that 2nd Street has anything you could want, from clothing and jewelry stores—some in business since the 1930s—to French and Mediterranean cuisine, upscale wine bars and casual spots that cater to students at nearby Cal State Long Beach. It doesn’t matter if you’re dressed up or in beachwear, you’re always welcome at the Shore.”

REVERE BEACH, BOSTON: May through September winds make kite flying ideal here. Satisfy your hankering for New England seafood and roast beef at Kelly’s, a Revere Beach staple, just steps from the sand.

MISSION AND PACIFIC BEACH, SAN DIEGO: These classics combine the city with laid-back beach communities. Rent bikes, learn to surf or rent a catamaran. Lively bars and restaurants are near when you’re beached out.

ONE BIT OF TRIVIA A near-perfect steady wind force makes it the single most popular place for windsurfing on the West Coast. And while many Southern California beaches are notorious for being overcrowded, Sheldrake said, “The beach access here couldn’t be any easier. If you drive instead of walk, there’s plenty of parking everywhere. The beach is huge and there’s a lot of space to relax and have a good time. It’s a beautiful place.”

ROCKAWAY BEACH, NEW YORK: An easy trip from Manhattan, this spot is teeming with summertime fun. Rockaway Beach Surf Shop specializes in surf, skim and body boards. Diverse ethnic cuisine is nearby.

ONCE YOU’VE HEARD IT, YOU'LL REMEMBER IT. It’s the sound of a piercing shriek, a stadiumrocking outburst from thousands of young fans that's heard whenever Alex Morgan emerges from the player's tunnel and steps onto the field for the United States Women’s National Team. Morgan, a 27-year-old striker from Diamond

Bar, California, is today's biggest star in women’s soccer, an uncontainable blend of on-field speed and skill and off-field appeal. As such, she’s the one true heir to Mia Hamm, who helped elevate the sport into our national consciousness. Except that Morgan, who was on teams that won the 2012 Olympics and the 2015 Women’s World Cup,

plays in an era when the women’s game is far more visible. It's worth noting that while Morgan has struggled with some injuries in recent years, she has scored goals for the U.S. team at a faster clip than even Hamm. Morgan once got more goals and assists for the Americans in a single year than all of her team’s opponents— combined—scored. C H E V R O L E T. C O M / N E W R O A D S

“MY PARENTS HAD NO IDEA ABOUT SOCCER,” MORGAN SAID. “THEY DIDN’T EVEN REALLY LIKE THE GAME, BUT THEY KNEW THAT I LOVED IT, AND THEY WANTED TO HELP ME SUCCEED.”

A NEW TEAM But Morgan’s seeking out different challenges. Earlier this year, she signed to play with Olympique Lyon, the powerhouse of European women’s soccer, to elevate her game further by surrounding herself with some of the planet’s best talent. The change also will push her out of her comfort zone. “I hope this move can

help evolve my overall game,” Morgan said. “My hope is that putting myself in challenging situations every day while in France—communicating or adapting to how the team needs me to play and the position they need me to play—will help me gain more knowledge of the game and teach me things I otherwise wouldn’t learn.” Morgan thrives on challenges, though. Her popular series of books aimed at middle schoolers, called “The Kicks,” continues to grow, reinforcing important messages about believing in yourself and teamwork. Her motivation to keep improving and challenging herself: to keep those young fans shrieking. n

SWITCH FROM SOFTBALL So at first, like her older sisters, Alex played softball. “My dad’s a big baseball fan, so he encouraged me to play travel softball,” Morgan said. “I agreed to try it for one year, and after that I expressed that my love was in soccer.” Mike fashioned himself into a soccer coach and referee, even though he knew nothing about the sport. He has rarely missed a soccer game of hers since, including traveling overseas for many matches.

“My parents had no idea about soccer,” Morgan said. “They didn’t even really like the game, but they knew that I loved it, and they wanted to help me succeed.” She’s succeeded emphatically. If Morgan retired today, she’d be the eighth-leading scorer in Women’s National Team history. And every woman ahead of her has played far more games—some two or three times as many.

2017 CHEVY OWNER MAGAZINE ISSUE 8

But the soccer stardom, the endorsements, the budding career as a children’s book author wasn’t where Morgan’s life was supposed to go. She was destined to become a softball star, or at least that’s what her dad, Mike, who owns a construction company, had in mind.

Morgan, Chevrolet Form a Great Match

nn Since 2010, Chevrolet, in partnership with its dealers, has supported soccer at the youth level in communities across the country through Chevy Youth Soccer, a grassroots community outreach program. Participating youth soccer leagues receive equipment and access to instructional clinics. Chevy Youth Soccer has donated more than 6,200 equipment kits, provided free instruction on soccer fundamentals to more than 600,000 students and impacted more than 5 million kids across the U.S. “At a clinic, you can take the time to get to know kids and teach them,” Morgan said. “Those are the best times to be able to connect with kids.” Morgan's enthusiasm for soccer, her desire to help kids and having come from a Chevy family make this collaboration a perfect fit. “My family is a Chevy family,” Morgan said. “My dad always had a huge Chevy pickup, and that’s what we used for road trips, taking us to practice and anything else.” Learn more at Soccer.YouthSportsClinics.com

GRAND PRISMATIC SPRING: YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, TETON COUNTY, WYOMING Some 370 feet across and at least 121 feet deep, Grand Prismatic is the largest hot spring in the United States. But its vivid coloration, caused by algae and bacteria that thrive in hot temperatures, is what makes this massive boiling lake so spectacular. Emanating from a deep blue center, a surreal set of green, red or orange outer circles frame its edges and runoff channels. “On a sunny day, from a distance of a few hundred yards or farther, the steam rising from Grand Prismatic appears to be a sky-blue color,” said Rich Jehle, a ranger and 25-year park veteran. “The effect is quite beautiful and startling.”

The classic novel Moby-Dick opens with anticipation of a voyage in which “the great flood-gates of the wonder-world” would be flung open. Herman Melville’s words are an equally appropriate description for some natural wonders that, while lesser known among travelers, are extraordinary sights by any measure. 2017 Bolt EV.

nn The Bolt EV is not just a great electric vehicle. It’s a great vehicle, period. The Bolt EV combines the benefits of a crossover, such as higher seating position and excellent cargo space, with the instant torque and acceleration of an electric vehicle. Thoughtful design and engineering are found throughout. The battery pack lies below the floor, evenly distributing weight and creating a lower center of gravity, which helps keep the Bolt EV planted when maneuvering. This solution also maximizes cargo space.

TOOLS TO OPTIMIZE RANGE

2017 CHEVY OWNER MAGAZINE ISSUE 8

SYNCHRONOUS FIREFLIES: GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK, GATLINBURG, TENNESSEE For about two weeks a year in late May or early June, the males of this unique species of firefly, which can be found across the Southern Appalachians, set out in search of a mate. They attract attention by flashing their bioluminescent bellies on and off. Before long, their flashing comes into sync, lighting the forest in short bursts followed by abrupt spans of darkness. Thousands of tourists flock to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, where a large population of synchronous fireflies gathers, to witness the display. “What makes it special to me is the darkness in between flashing sequences and the anticipation of watching the forest floor come alive with light,” Jamie Sanders, a park ranger, said. “It is an incredible show of Mother Nature at her finest.”

HORSETAIL FALL: YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, CALIFORNIA If conditions are right during the winter and early spring, rain and melted snow form a stream of runoff that cascades off the eastern edge of El Capitan, a sheer vertical rock formation located on the north side of Yosemite Valley. If the runoff is flowing on clear evenings in mid-to late February, the setting sun will hit this seasonal waterfall at just the right angle, creating the illusion of red or orange lava flowing down the rock face. Seasonal illumination of Horsetail Fall is natural, unlike a man-made event that ran from the 1870s to the late 1960s, when campfires were pushed off the top of Glacier Point on the south wall of Yosemite Valley, creating a cascade of hot ash and burning embers that could be seen from the valley below. n

THE DARK SKY: GREAT BASIN NATIONAL PARK, BAKER, NEVADA Situated in one of the least-populated regions of the contiguous United States, with low humidity and a basin-and-range topography that helps shield it from distant city lights, Great Basin National Park boasts among the darkest night skies in the country. That means it’s also among the starriest. On clear summer and fall nights, thousands of glittering points, including the Milky Way and the Andromeda galaxy, can be seen with the naked eye, said Annie Gilliland, lead astronomy ranger at the park. To help people enjoy these wonders, Great Basin National Park offers guided full-moon hikes and an astronomy festival. “In telescopes, we can look at other galaxies, nebulae and star clusters,” she said, adding, “I frequently get visitors looking up in awe.”

With Regen on DemandTM and One-Pedal Driving,1 you can optimize range by capturing otherwise-lost kinetic energy and transferring that energy back to the battery pack. When Regen on Demand is activated, drivers can slow down without using the brake pedal. Shifting to Low mode allows for One-Pedal Driving, which can extend range. One-Pedal Driving allows you to slow down—or even come to a complete stop—by simply lifting your foot off the accelerator. (Always use your brake pedal if you need to stop immediately.) The standard 10.2” diagonal center console touch-screen and 8” diagonal Driver Information Center provide real-time information on energy use, best-case range scenarios and more. Support for Apple CarPlayTM2 and Android AutoTM3,4 is standard. Bolt EV is increasingly offered nationwide, with a number of incentives available. hen the Bolt EV was first announced, Sean Finnerty, an assistant professor and coordinator of the school counseling program at State University of New York Oswego, took a keen interest. Because he has a long commute, Finnerty was definitely interested in the EPA-estimated 238 miles of pure electric range on a full charge. 1 “My commute is 132 miles, so the Bolt EV has more than enough range to get me to work and back,” Finnerty said. “The idea that I would never have to stop at a gas station again definitely had a very strong appeal.” And now, after taking delivery of his Bolt EV, Finnerty has found even more to like. “My favorite thing about the Bolt EV is how qui-

et it is—the car is almost totally silent,” he said. “It also has great acceleration, making it fun to drive.” Finnerty had the available 240-volt at-home charging unit installed (professional installation required). This higher-voltage system can provide up to 25 miles of range per hour of charge time. “Each night, I spend about 10 seconds plugging in my Bolt EV,” Finnerty said. “When I wake up each morning, I have a ‘full tank of gas.’” His wife bought a Volt extended-range electric vehicle in November. Finnerty enjoyed driving Volt in electric mode, which made him eagerly anticipate the arrival of the all-electric Bolt EV. “On average, we have to fill the Volt2 with gas once every six weeks,” Finnerty said. “On a normal driving day, neither of us burn any gasoline.” n

Whistling noises and grinding are other potential signs that brake service may be required. TIPS TO HELP OPTIMIZE BRAKE LIFE n Avoid sudden stops, if possible n Coast to stop lights and intersections n Refrain from riding the brakes
